Hello everyone.

I'm Chad and I go by the pseudonym "Corner Kid." I just finished my first full-length album in my friend's tiny bedroom and I'm currently building everything from the ground up. I'm looking to move to a new city with an active music scene where I can build a practice space and rehearse with a band. Now that my record is finally finished, its off to get mastered and pressed. In the meantime I'm in-between living situations and focusing on meeting new people, sharing stories, getting advice, and figuring out where to hang my hat next. Currently I'm in Atlanta, and I'm dying to leave. I'm thinking about Athens, Chicago, or New York. Here are some of my links:

Welcome to the forum Chad! You got a really good voice. It could definitely serve you well in the right place. I was just discussing the whole thing about re-locating for better opportunities not too long ago. I think it's a wise decision to step out. It's not something that I need to do at this point. I mean, the Bay Area isn't what it used to be, but there's a lot of potential over here.

All the best!

thanks! I've always wanted to visit the bay area. The atlanta music scene has been dead since the recession started. And now everyone is too worried about paying rent to wanna drive through atlanta traffic to pay $10 to see a show. Everything is just way too spread out here. And since I'm not a hip-hop artist, its time to move.

I'd be careful about thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
Sure nothing risked is nothing gained.
But if you can meet your bills and feed yourself where you are ??

I would do some in-depth research before relocating.

I HATE moving. I did too much of that when I was young. With the Internet being a limitless musical opportunity I would stay put and market test your material worldwide, right from your tiny bedroom. Test market yourself on Jango for example. Put your songs alongside similar famous artists (Jango will explain how it works). If there's more than 50% positive response you probably can go anywhere and make it happen. but then again, you might make it happen just fine where you're at...

Yeah, but I know Atlanta's a drag. That's why my family didn't move there when I was a kid. It's definitely not any better.

If you can get some kind of employment, and a little pad, then the skies the limit. It's hard to find work these days...but not impossible. People I know are still landing good jobs.

Keep in mind,I'm not condoning moving without a set plan or security. So you guys can't kill me for posting this later.

Do the research to find out about the local markets on male prostitution. How much for a handjob? A BJ? Around the world? Find out the ratio of getting busted by the cops per week peddling your ass. Are there any unforseen overhead costs? Pimps? Managers? Agents? Which states have the strictest sodomy laws? Etc. This information will be useful to any successful musician's career.

Chad

Howdy neighbor - I'm on the other side of Atlanta - Snellville. You mentioned Athens - did you mean Athens GA?

If so - what is happening there - I'm close enough that I can check it out.

Good luck.

Hi Chad,

I became familiar with your work a few years ago when I was looking for a producer for my songs. I ran across the producer on some of your early tracks who had posted them. BTW, can you remind me of his name? (he had to liquidate his studio unfortunately) I really liked what you guys did. Very impressive stuff. I couldn't find any info about you at the time (the mysterious artist!) but always thought you had the potential to be big. It's nice to see you're ready to give it a shot. Best of Luck! And keep in touch...I'm in Atlanta and would like keep up with what you're up to.

Dean, good to hear from you. Ryan McDougall actually gave up music to pursue coffee. Around the same time, I gave up coffee to pursue music.

I did the Ben Franklin list. It looks like Atlanta won by one point, and that point happens to involve the JOB MARKET. I'll be staying here for now. Plenty of tricks to turn here. Haha.

Sorry to hear about Ryan! I imagine you mostly produced the tunes I heard back then but was impressed nonetheless with his other examples. You new stuff is just as fresh and interesting as the older ones. Glad to hear you'll be sticking around here, maybe you'll play somewhere around I could hear you. I'd like to keep in touch, drop me line - deantaylor13@hotmail.com

I am just a neophyte, but I am willing to learn by listening to others work. Take care.

people! what the cornerkid wants is to be in the music biz not to have all the life sucked out of him by some sh*t job, I say the kid has a great voice.
he has the talent and the looks and the rifght tude. I say concentrate on finding legal representation and shopping what he has to indy labels.
go on tour as meager as it may be at first and he will get picked up by a major he,s that good!
i want to audition for his drummer spot and ride his coatails to the absolute sucess that he is without a doubt going to experince!
