I've pretty much posed questions, extolled a certain moral philosophy, and expressed my beliefs based in that philosophy. I think perhaps some people here are not sure about their moral compass and rationalization appears to be their easy out. If it gets them through the day.......

We do NOT possess absolute rights.....you do not have an absolute right to kill me simply because you want to. We exercise our rights within the constraint of laws, and laws (most of them anyway) are based upon SOME moral principle that has been accepted as conducive to a civilized society. A person who worships satan may think it is perfectly within their rights to sacrifice a baby to their deity.....however, that violates our law against MURDER. WHO SAYS it is murder? What makes it murder under the law, but the exercise of free religious expression to the devil worshipper? In the civilized American society, behaviour is constrained by the LAW, and the LAW is our collective moral sense codified in order to form and perpetuate a civil, safe, and ordered society. Otherwise, anarchy and mob rule would prevail, and this would be quite a different place.

As I stated in my very first post here, abortion is truly a matter of the heart. I posed a reasoned and compelling argument against it in a legal sense, but it clearly goes beyond that. The argument is the very essence of the battle for the soul of this Republic. YOU say choice.....I say murder.

I have seen men die in violent ways, have seen the spark of life leave a person's eyes.....folks, life is vastly, VASTLY under rated! It is GOOD to be alive!! I just think we take a way too cavilier view of life and death, and abortion seems to be ground zero in the philosophical debate. DEAD is FOREVER!! I'm not afraid of it......I am a Christain, and My eternal destiny is assured, but this life thing here is pretty darn skippy good!! Just wish more people thought that way. death pretty much sucks!

And Philbymon.......THANK YOU for you reasonable tone. However, I must adamantly and vehemently disagree with one thing you said; I AM NOT AN ANIMAL!!! I am a unique and special creature, created as intended in the image of GOD! I did not evolve from some slug thing that slithered out of the primordal ooze, nor did I evolve from a damn monkey! I AM A HUMAN BEING!! You may certainly consider yourself differently......it is your perfect perogitive.......but I AM NOT an animal.

And on that note, I will end my diatribe on the subject.....to the relief and glee of many. Lets talk about music and groovin' and drums that sound so good they make you want to cry!!

Well......sometimes I do hit'em a little hard.....but as I get older, I discover the magic and neccesity of dynamics. It serves the music much better, and after all, thats what drummers are all about; serving the music.
Be well and have a great day!

Britney Spears

Oh come on, I know the slang for Britney Spears. Britney, just like Mariah.

Britney sings that song Good Vibrations right?

What was in the bag? I'm getting blonde hair.

EDIT: Roto, the beauty of this country is free speech, so please don't be shy to post your opinion on all cylinders.

wow, I read this and was kinda taken aback. never expected a moral dispute on a music forum but hey...

opinions are like arseholes; everyone's got one, and they all stink.

I live in a townhouse complex. there are a few ladies in here that look after unwanted children. one, the family fought to not let the little girl abort. the child was "damaged" from drug use. this child is deaf, blind has muscle problems etc etc. it (I have to use it sorry) can not feed itself, can't even sit up without all this special equipment, requires constant supervision or it could choke or fall etc. for the first couple months the family and naysayers would come around but now they don't even come to visit after fighting so hard to keep it alive. the caregiver has to fight to get someone to come take the child so she can have a break every couple months. she is a wonderful person and more caring than most, and she has to have someone come over to watch the child just so she can shower etc.

this might not be the norm, but I think this is a good example of pro choice. I think (another friggin opinion, and ya I'm an arsehole LOL) that in these instances there has to be the right to let the mother choose without opinions being forced on them. this child will be a burden on the medical system (the cost of all these specialty items required to care for the child is astronomical) and to the caregivers for life.

anyway, on a good note I want to thank bandmix for helping me meet a new musician I am jamming with this weekend. I look forward to it.
peace out guys and gals.

philbymon wrote:Every society throughout mankind's history has felt the need to abort. Native Americans used various herbs, as did indigenous ppl everywhere. It wasn't until the judeo/christian/moslem model came about, & gained control, that it even became an issue. Once it became an issue, the medical community took it over, & made it a most dangerous affair, especially since it had to be kept so secret, that ppl would be willing to let others die rather than admit that they were 'helping' some woman abort.

Personal choice is a much better way to go, than to have any religion control personal choices. Fewer ppl will die, or be killed, protecting those who would become criminals in order to help others, over a purely religious debate.
