I'm pretty sure that Bob Dylan inspired a lot of people who couldn't sing. But that is so true.

Listen to some "Singers" that made it. I'm sure even the least of you who don't feel they can sing could do as well in time as some big names. That really does inspire confidence.

I'll take Bob Dylan's natural voice over a machined one any day

Dylan will be remembered for his words, not his voice. And that is still a distinctly human quality.

Ultimately Slacker you are correct, I just can’t come up with a good enough excuse to cheat that badly, although I keep wishing for one. If I were comfortable with it, I would have used it already and I haven’t even installed it yet. So I’m just kidding myself that I’d feel good about anything that came out of it. I also know once it was installed, it would be huge temptation to make it the quick answer for every poor take.

I don’t agree with that Hayden, I’d rather hear nails on a chalkboard. I have a hard time pulling lyrics out of music, so for me it’s mostly about harmony and sound. The worse song is route 66, it’s horrible the tones make me aggressively crazy. :D The first time I heard him sing that, I literally thought it was a joke, a parody of something else presumably a lot less awful.

But no one can deny the man is a song writing genius. He did make a lot of other people sound great, using his music.

Tom Petty's nasal voice evokes the same gag reflex in me :)

You wouldn't choke on their paycheck phil. You'ld cash it
and pick up a pencil to write another one.

Hell Petty played the Super Bowl.

Maybe so, but that doesn't make him a singer, in my book.

That's the point. You have a book.
He has a library.

I don’t think anyone is contesting their popularity or success. I just don’t prefer vocals that sound like a chain saw laboring through a wet forest. :)
