In a 5-2 ruling Monday, the California Supreme Court allowed police to search the cell phones of people who are arrested even without possessing a warrant, saying defendants lose their privacy rights for any items they're carrying when taken into custody. So, if you're arrested unfairly for some reason, cops can still search your smartphone and presumably copy, say, all your contacts or emails or phone or text records, all without a warrant. No possible abuse scenarios there, right?*

Note that statement again - you lose ALL rights to privacy for being ARRESTED, NOT for being convicted of anything! So, whether you are innocent or not makes no f*cking difference anymore, does it? You lose all right to privacy from our overpowering gov't by simply being ACCUSED of a crime that leads to an arrest.

These ppl must think I'm pretty stupid, if they believe that I will cooperate with ANY cop at ANY time, after they pull sh*t like this!

Sorry. I should have put this in the US forum. I forget that sometimes, when I get all riled up!

I'll try harder in the future!

There is no privacy or information "authorities" don't have on you through any and every electronic communication you have and will make. Google, the CIA, and all the other organizations are all currently spying and storing information on ALL citizens and compiling that information for use against the rebellious who cherish freedom. Too Star Wars for you? If that doesn't happen, then feel free to flame away.

While that is true, SG, it really inflames my ire when the SC says it's all perfectly okay, when these actions are LEGALLY CONDONED, in spite of our great Constitution, right in our f*cking faces! it's come to the point that the gov't doesn't care about that document, & they don't care who knows that they don't care about it. They're FLAUNTING their total control over every aspect of our lives. They have declared victory over that pesky Constitution thing, publicly.

They're telling us that they will continue to do whatever they want, & there ain't a damned thing we can do about it, cuz they just made it all legal. That's pretty damned ballsy, if you ask me.

It's a two sided coin Phil. While Americans slept and kept tyrants in power for their own self centered single issue reasons, tyrants entrenched themselves and took over our country.

Before they did this behind the backs of the American people who kept them in power. Now, having done what was needed to collapse the economy of America, the ultimate means for take over, they operate in the open.

Sleeping America has now awakened, but too late to do anything about what is already looming on the horizon. Bankrupt economy = riots and civil unrest, then Martial Law. Checkmate.

Look at it this way, at least now you know about the evil they were doing behind your back. It is out in the open? Fore warned isn't necessarily a bad thing.
