of the people who get arrested are black, in cities
where 70% of the population is black, that is not
racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.

Ok math whiz, what is it when 70% of the people arrested are black and the population is 85% white? That's the situation in my rural county in Ala.

You were in the military. Ppl who weren't have far more 'liberal' views when it comes to this subject, as a rule.

I am a proud exception to the rule... except I feel I am a conservative... you know, the real kind, not the modern Flag worshiping kind.

I'm the kind that wants balanced budgets, Federal, state and local... but with a Repub (conservative values preaching) President and congress threw the budget out the window. My local state has elected a Repub Gov and now a repub legislature... their first order of business was to set out to write new laws limiting the availablilty of Porn, gambling and liquor. Never mind those are heavily taxed and we are deeply in debt. First we must purge the state of immorality, then we can balance the budget.

So why do I defend the Dems so often? Not because I completely Identify with their philosophy, its because when we have Repubs in charge they scream about homos and abortions while paying themselves and their buddies the out of balance dividends. They PREACH but do not practice... so I have had to abandon the party that abandoned its principles and embraces idiots like Glenn Beck and Sarah "I can see russia from my house" Palin.

You want to shoot folks who desecrate the flag? Proceed as you like. Don't be surprised when other TRUE Americans shoot you or incarcerate your bigoted a$$. If being opposed to small minded folks like you makes me Liberal, I'll wear the badge proudly.

I don't identify with either party. I can understand & agree with what they are SUPPOSED to represent, but find that it'a all just words, & the only thing they represent is their continuing to have a death grip on us all, along with their "elected" jobs, while they feed the corporate regime.

Each & every time I get my hopes up over one candidate or the next, they prove themselves to be yet another puppet of the republicratic crap.

I, too, consider myself to be a true conservative, in that I believe in the right of the individual. Unfortunately, our country has gone so far from personal rights it can hardly be called the same thing it was, just 30 years ago.

I never said that, just help them find another country to live in. I mean we waste a lot of money why not buy them a one way ticket to their choice of country to live in. We are only talking about 2 to 3 million tops.

Rent "Voyage of the Damned."

Based on actual events, the story told of the MS St. Louis, which departed from Hamburg, Germany in 1939, carrying 937 Jews from Germany to Havana, Cuba. By this time, the Jews had suffered the rise of anti-Semitism and realised that this might be their last chance to escape. The film details the emotional journey of the passengers who gradually become aware that their passage has been an exercise in propaganda and that they were never intended to disembark in Cuba. Rather, they were to be used as examples before the world. A Nazi official said that when the whole world has refused to accept them as refugees, no country can blame Germany for the fate of the Jews.

The government of Cuba refuses entry to the passengers, and as the liner waits near the Florida coastline, they learn that the United States has also rejected them. They have no choice but to return to Europe. The captain tells a confidante that he has received a letter signed by 200 passengers saying they will join hands and jump into the sea rather than return to Germany. He says he is intending to deliberately run the liner aground on a reef off the southern coast of England.

Shortly before the film's end, it is revealed that the governments of the United Kingdom, Belgium, France and the Netherlands have each agreed to accept a share of the passengers as refugees. As they cheer and clap at the good news, footnotes disclose the fates of some of the main characters, and reveal that more than 600 of the ship's 937 passengers ultimately lost their lives in Nazi concentration camps. However, the book presents a much lower number: By using the survival rates for Jews in various countries, Thomas and Morgan-Witts estimated that about 180 of the St. Louis refugees in France, 152 of those in Belgium, and 60 of those in the Netherlands, survived the Holocaust. Adding to these the passengers who disembarked in England, they estimated that of the original 936 refugees (one man died during the voyage), roughly 709 survived and 227 were slain.
