not a citizen?

Correct, not a citizen... not able to vote, own property, drive, ect...

While persons born in the United States are considered to be citizens and can have passports, children under age eighteen are legally considered to be minors and cannot vote or hold office. Upon the event of their eighteenth birthday, they are considered full citizens but there is no ceremony acknowledging this relation or any correspondence between the new citizen and the government to this effect.

Well, you know, many people in this country have shifted so far right that a reasonable opinion will get you branded as a left-wing, radical revolutionary.

This idea that murder is okay if you're a right-winger comes up a lot, I've noticed. It's, well, disturbing. I doubt many of the people who say it actually mean it the way it sounds, but that sort of thing leads to fascism.

If someone burns the flag you have the right to criticize that action and complain about it all you want. That's your right to free speech, just as it was his right to burn the flag. So complain. Just don't be surprised if no one listens. Mind you, burning a flag doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It's likely to alienate exactly the people you need to listen to you.

Personally, I'm offended by the number of cars I see with flag stickers and flag-themed stickers. I'm offended because I know many of them do it as a fashion statement more than as a patriotic gesture. In my mind, that's at least as disrespectful of the principles this nation was founded on as burning a flag. At least.

Of course I would never desecrate the flag. Why would I? But not because an asshole like you would tell me I can't or threaten to shoot me. Bully tactics are all the small-minded have left. But I don't run from bullies. I get even.

Lucky for you, most people with guns including me know the difference between right and wrong, respect and disrespect. Some people like you will never learn.

Hmmm....

Right and wrong.

Respect and disrespect.

Honestly, you've pretty much demonstrated to me that you have a very twisted definition of these concepts.

So, I wonder, do you know the difference between:

Jingoism and patriotism?

Fascism and democracy?

Free speech and censorship?

Not to repost the dictionary for you, lets sum up those three questions.

I want you, to walk into a school with the american flag, wipe your ass with it, burn it, and tell all the kids and teachers to suck your dick. After you do that come back and learn another lesson.

As I see it, the problem with your request is:

1. walk into a school with the american flag------up to the discretion of the School Board.
2. wipe your ass with it---legal
3. wipe your ass with it at the school-----up to the discretion....
4. burn it------legal
6. burn it while inside the school------illegal
7. tell all the kids to suck your dick-----illegal
8. tell all the teachers to suck your dick-----legal, but some of the male teachers might take you up on it, then what?

Almost get the feeling that we're approaching a crossroads where we decide if we're the United States of America, or the United State of America, where all nations are represented: yet..no ONE nation is dominant/represented.

Good Lord folks, you HAVE to step back, zoom out and re-consider the thing from afar and you'll realize how ridiculous this stuff is getting.

If you do that, and you still think the flag is offensive, then you perhaps should join the US military for a few years.
or
sit down and talk to one of the very few remaining WWII vets.

Patriots are a dying breed I guess.

The flag represents a lot to me. It's a strong symbol. It's bigger than I am. What right would I, or anyone else have to publicly burn it?

A country that does not protect its own borders isn't a country. The fact that a school board IN the United States doesn't allow a kid to display an AMERICAN flag on his bike tells me that DE FACTO we are no longer the United States of AMerica. I don't have anything against Hispanics or Pakistanis or ANY foreigners who are here LEGALLY. I do have something against an AMERICAN institution, namely the school system in question, prohibiting an American flag because it may cause racial tensions with people who have been brought here ILLEGALLY or people who have been given birth here by people who are HERE ILLEGALLY. Prohibiting the American flag in and of itself doesn't bother me. Sh*tting on it, burning it, ripping it to shreds doesn't bother me. IT IS THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS INCIDENT THAT BOTHERS ME IMMENSELY. It is the circumstance of an American institution prohibiting an American symbol that is EXTREMELY DISTURBING TO ME. This particular circumstance is a sad reminder that the American government is selling out America itself. It is a sad reminder that America is NOT ENFORCING LAWS THAT ALREADY EXIST. It is a sad reminder that our AMerican government is not acting in the best interests of AMERICAN CITIZENS. Part and parcel of this incident is the myriad businesses and industries that have evacuated this country. You can sh*t on the flag all you want. Fact is that our federal government has been sh*tting on us, and not letting a boy display the American flag is a perfect example of our own government sh*tting on us...

I think this was probably aimed at my comments about flag stickers.

And I think you misunderstood my point.

The flag is not offensive. Using the flag as a fashion statement is.

Pretending patriotism because it's fashionable - because it's expected - is worse than a complete lack of patriotism, in my mind. I don't remember when I realized that most of those stickers are more fashion statement than patriotism, but I remember how I felt about it.

I'll defend the right of someone to desecrate the flag because that right is part of a fundamental principle this country is founded on. That doesn't mean I approve. Especially if such desecration is merely pointless showmanship. Even if they're making a point, I think they would be better served by finding another way.
