I have been on a fat loss and training kick since April of last year. I almost hit 300 pounds. (297)... I was a fat ass fer sure. I have since been able to drop to 240. I am working out like I am preparing for a fight. Cardio, weights and some simple Yoga.

What this is leading to is this:

For those of you working out regularly, what is your workout mix?

My current MP3 mix is:
Six Feet Under
Slayer
Wolfmother
Clutch
Anthrax
Rammstein
Opeth
Pantera
Crowbar
Down
Year of the Moth
Aphex Twin

On random...

Lately I haven't been listening to anything. I don't know why, but the silence seems to have some kind of power to it.

My weight used to always yo-yo up and own between "fat phases" and "skinny phases." But, with a slowing metabolism, I seem to be stuck around 260lbs.! I just lost 30. I didn't do anything different. But, I do not think I am going to lose much more anytime soon. I can't really work out or take long walks like I used to. Kinda sucks. Thought about trying one of those stomach cruncher devices they sell on TV and some Dexatrim. I dunno.

Dexatrim? TV machines? Nooo! All you need to do is watch your processed sugars, carbs, and your food intake. Also, get a medicine ball for the crunches. Last year I went from 220 to 170. I'm still maintaining the weight.

The hardest part is adjusting, and achieving the first few common goals. Once you get past that, it's not that hard at all.

Don't eat after 7 pm. That really is the number one cause of weight gain today. You don't need the calories at that point in the day.

So true Dizz. And yet that is exactly when most people want to eat - in the evening watching TV!

The lessons I have learned in the last year losing weight:
What Dizz said
Try to keep your calories in the range of your activity. I found that I was not eating enough in some cases. This will keep you from starvation mode fat bulking.

Do not over eat

Cut out foods that have a ton of refined ingredients. If you can not pronounce it and it is supposed to be in english, don't eat it.

Try to include a protien, veggie, fruit and bread with at least 2 meals.

Cut back on your "3 meals" of the day and allow some snacking in the morning and afternoon.

Drink 2 - 3 liters of water/fluids every day.

As few carbonated drinks as possible

Keep a posative outlook.

Get yourself some syncopated jazz.

We used to use jazz a lot for heavy bag work.

Have you heard of the twinkie diet? :D
http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/tw ... index.html

no but really, I think what can be gleened from that article is take in less than you burn, and lower weight leads to better overall health. Of course, the challenge is fighting the food crave -

That made me laugh my arse off.

I am difficult to provoke into physical violence these days. If you did something that actually moved me into action, it would likely be a race between me and the cops. (As it relates to the internet)

and yeah... I was almost Sumo worthy!

I knew if this winter was going to get cold that I would be in trouble. I'm like a bear. I hibernate and eat. The abs that I had turned to flab. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I eat. Last night was Sunday, so of course I thought I should reward myself with two frozen burritos. The guilt is still there. I'm going to be spending all spring trying to get back what I lost. No fun.

Should I write a song about it? What should it be called?
