KLUGMO wrote:The General Chat forum goes through phases. Mountains and
valleys. Right now is a particularly odd one but still a phase.
The variety of personalities is enjoyable and testing at the same
time. I find the hard fast straight liners just as interesting
as the quirky, strange, deep ones. Sometimes a wave of true
sentiment will ring through the forum when a particular topic
or subject comes up. Other times the jagged edge of rebellion
and discontent will plunge into the chest of General Chat causing
some to flee and others to act in ways they normally wouldn't.

All in all, it's a pretty interesting place to visit because the people
here participate. They are willing to show themselves with words.
Making music is expressing yourself and that is what we all do.
Using your keyboard here is just another way of doing that.
As music makers, expressing ourselves comes easy and that is why
we are able to vent the good and bad within us here. Views and opinions
clash and heads butt. Also there are some beautiful and Loving
posts and topics here that will move you inside where it counts. For
example Celtics posts about Haiti touched many people here and caused
many to act on their concern. That is something special.

I think my advise for anyone discovering this forum for the first time
would be to jump in head first if you want to get wet but don't
bother if you have thin skin and a one track mind.

It's just people being people.

:) Well said.

Very cool, Sean....Happy New Year to you also! 8) Out of curiosity, You get some awesome sounds out of your axes... Do you ever use Les Pauls? For some reason Pauls and PRS's have always been my guitar of choice..

Never used Les Pauls, no wammy bar, however, they are great guitars. I love their sound, very warm. Additionally, I can't afford them.

Have a great New Year guys.

FYI, I found a drummer and bassist from Band Mix, they are excellent players. I will post some music once I have it.

Zachary Custom Guitars are good. But, the luthier is an a-hole. He's the "soup nazi" of guitar builders. He says PRS guitars are trash.

Well.... The higher end PRS's are just simply AWESOME... Mine is almost 5 grand... I have tried the really low end one's (about $500.00) and they do suck but I get nothing but praise from my audience on how nice it sounds!

He may be referring to the guitars in the same price range as his. I highly doubt a $5,000 guitar is going to suck that badly. But, he does note certain design flaws in many instruments which most musicians never notice or care about. I love Les Pauls. But, the headstock is stupid engineering, a leftover style from hollowbodies poorly adapted to an electric. They often snap like twigs when airlines get through with them. I like Zachary's "samurai sword" style headstock, just a sturdy straight extension of the neck.

I taken random pieces of foam and mounted them on wood, approx 2'x2', placed them hinged at about a 45 degree angle, placed it mounted on a stand and achieved a modestly good amount of isolation. it's not perfect but closets are hard to come by.
