Nah, Mike is capable of intelligent conversation. Scratchy is not. Ignore Scratchy. Ignore Mike only when he gets out of hand.

And yet, the brains to have brains still eludes you.

that's a bit of a stretch :) besides, I prefer to pre-emptively ignore Mike because unlike a post, you can't erase memory. I don't care to have his emotional fits on display in my mind if I can avoid it ... 8)

For the record... I recently had to sell my beautiful bike and both my Les Pauls to make ends meet this year... the new LP was a HUMONGOUS sacrifice made to me from my wife... she'll be paying it off for quite some time.... that was out of pure love for me... had nothing to do with the hardships I've been enduring these last 2 years.... food in my wife and kids bellies and a roof over their heads supersedes any studio time for my own personal "musical" satisfaction! Believe you me, I tried to explain to her I was ok with just my PRS... She's a stubborn one.... Now if I spent my $$ on studio time just so I could "show off" to all my friends, that would just be plain selfish as Im in a cover act....at my age, I don't care to reach for the sky as far as my music career goes... I just love to perform on stage and I do it quite often and have a blast doing it! To choose to spend one's money on a recording even though you have responsibilities toward your loved one's is LUDICROUS! Just like mike said, If I were single, living on my own and only had to worry about myself then the sacrifice would be warranted!

...and I'm pointing out to you the reasoning behind why not everyone, even though they are capable musicians, can afford to lay down $$ on studio time... Again, I'm in a cover act...I'm a pretty well known guitarist in my area... I've never been more than 2 weeks without a band because I don't need no stinkin' studio version of myself when all I have to do is put an ad out that I'm either available or looking to get into a band and I get inundated with e-mails... I would LOVE to have the time and paper to lay down tracks to some of my originals but that CAN'T happen at the moment..If any money is going to be spent concerning my music, it will be on the basic necessities (strings, picks, tubes...maybe a new amp  ) not on recording... I do agree, though... I can make a simple little video right now in front of my computer if I needed to.... but I personally don't!

All's cool Klugmo 8) I love a good debate and I love to explain my reasoning and I do welcome people pointing out faults in my reasoning... that's what makes for a fine discussion!

That was some gift. Your wife really knows your heart. I like to see that kind of thing in our oh so selfish world. Gives me some hope.

We poured every dime we earned as a band into our meager time in studio. Which required that we all sacrifice a little though out the year.
We consider having our music out there as a part of a mission. And the outlay of personal funds as a tithe.
I truly believe it's all about ones perspective.
And yes, it was a sacrifice mostly of desires, as well all intend to have our familial needs met as best we can.

Not all musicians can or should write and record. There's no shame in being a musician who plays other people's music. I write and record music because I HAVE to. I have produced over 125 recordings since 1987 and I estimate I've spent over $40,000 (average cost per song of $300). It's something I choose to spend my money on; I don't have the toys some people have like snowmobiles, guns or motorcycles. Music is it for me, and I don't intend to stop. But if you choose not to no one should judge.

NO GUNS ??

Well put Jimmy.

I'm one of those guys that feels that a good collection of weapons is a necessity just like food water and shelter.
I also consider them an investment / asset.
And frequently use them as such.
(no I don't rob banks)
So again it comes down to personal priority.
I don't have to stand on stage with Crip to know he is a better guitarist than I. It would be foolish of me to think less of him because he chooses a different path.
On the contrary, he pursues something that I could not.
And I respect him for it greatly.

Yep no guns, somehow I've stayed alive on this planet without them. But again if you choose to own some that's your right.

Sans, I luv ya man.... You're a tough dude with skills that could render most people helpless in just a couple of moves, yet you've got a big heart and a loving soul.. No....I'm not the better guitarist... I'm a different guitarist... we each have our own personal gifts as far as our craft... I just wanted to point out that I love just gigging....doing covers.... All different genres... I have a blast doing them and always learn from the artists that I replicate.. Stuff I would never even dream of doing on the guitar... so I would definitely say that every single cover I have to learn is definitely a LEARNING experience! Man.... Halen, Zak, Rhodes, Page, and a ton more have taught me stuff that I could never learn if I just played my own style all my life! I try and implement everything I learn from other artists when it comes time for me to just get up and do my own thing on my leads!
