Being a musician isn't some magical power bestowed by aliens. They're not "special people." Humans are humans. Some excel at what they do. So what? This snobbery is one of the things rock n' roll and punk originally railed against. Anyone with an instrument can become a musician.
No, it's not a magical power...it's the result of years of work. I've been in music for twenty years (and there's a lot of folks on this site that have been in it WAY longer than I have). If I had gone to college to be a doctor, I'd have been one a few times over by now. The idea that someone can come in and put themselves on an even par is not only dismissive, but pretty insulting as well.
If you think this is snobbery, then go out and buy yourself a scalpel set, walk into a local ER, and tell them you're ready to start slicing and dicing. See how they treat ya. Anyone with an instrument CAN be a musician....anyone who has an instrument doesn't AUTOMATICALLY become one. It's not snobbery. IT's not too outrageous to ask for some credentials.
Yeah, that was as much my lynch mob as it was Paul's (I already clarified that once), and your behavior was unnacceptable...most of us have forgiven and forgotten...do we really have to get into it again?
