All the gov't really need do is allow the banks to handle it.

Look - they got Paypal, Visa, AmEx, & Mastercard to stop all payments to Wikileaks, didn't they?

Can't the banks just decide to stop payment to ANYONE who asks the wrong questions, or brings up unpleasant subjects, or who questions their authority in any other matters? Why not stop all advertising transfers to the Wall St Journal's page, for printing critical remarks about the B 0f A? "Earlier this month, Bank of America decided to join the group, arguing that WikiLeaks may be doing things that are “inconsistent with our internal policies for processing payments.” Of course, this has nothing at all to do with the upcoming exposure of B of A "mistakes" & policies, does it?

This sorta thing is ALLOWED by our Federal Reserve, &, in this case 'strongly encouraged.' "...The decisions to bar the organization came after its founder, Julian Assange, said that next year it will release data revealing corruption in the financial industry. In 2009, Mr. Assange said that WikiLeaks had the hard drive of a Bank of America executive.

"What would happen if a clutch of big banks decided that a particularly irksome blogger or other organization was “too risky”? What if they decided — one by one — to shut down financial access to a newspaper that was about to reveal irksome truths about their operations? This decision should not be left solely up to business-as-usual among the banks."

I thought that the banks were supposed to handle my transactions for ME, & not necessarily for the ones that they would pick & choose to pay. I no longer have the right to buy information of my choosing, do I? No, it must pass the bank's litmus test od what is good for THEM. They can legally put ANY business they want, out of business. These are dangerous times for anyone with a dissenting voice, or with an unpopular attitude, &, as we move further toward a cashless monetary system, it will allow total economic control over anyone & everyone...

Hard to barter for international information, or real news that we need to know, bob.

I'm not sure that "international information" or "news that we need to know" aren't in fact really misinformation. Who knows what "news" is real or fake any more? I'd rather just deal with the people I deal with face-to-face every day and not even worry or think about anything else. I have enough on my personal plate and besides, what the hell can one little fisherman do about the world's problems anyway?
