Reverbnation vs myspace.
.
What with all the changes on MySpace, they've cut their own throats.
It's waaaay too slow now, and they've been driving people away - who has the extra hour to just sit doing nothing while wating for the last command you gave to - eventually - take effect?
.
(OK, now Sans, I know you NEVER miss an opportunity to say "MySpace sucks," so you don't need to say it again. That'll save me from having to say, "But it's free," again.)
:)
So, ok, I just opened a Reverbnation.com account (type in Alan Bradley).
There's not much there, yet, just 2 songs, but it seems like a pretty good place, what with their attention to grabbing fans and all . . .
.
Anyone else . . . ?

Reverbnation is going to win hands down with me. Myspace sucks as a whole now, and Facebook seems pretty reliant on Reverbnation for uploads.

If MySpace would have just kept their layout and only put a few more convienent additions to their page, people would have started coming back I think. It was more creative. Now it's a diet Facebook.

Reverbnation seems to stand well enough on its' own, and is better and faster than Tom's baby.

I've been on reverbnation for quite a while, actually. When I started my Myspace account, I had difficulty posting my music (didn't know I had to post a "musician page"... ). I went through reverbnation to get my music widget, which I could actually post anywhere-even allowed my friends to post my music on their page-nice free advertising! The only issue with it was that people commonly didn't recognize my music player for what it was...they would e-mail me and ask where they could hear my tunes...I would respond "that red box on the right side of my page!"

Then facebook came along and basically had a direct link with reverbnation-now everyone uses the same system. Another way that FB out-thought MS (IMO). I don't receive any more e-mails asking where my music is.

Myspace = well we all know it sucks big balls... slow as all hell and waaaay too many steps to do anything.
Rvenuenation = constantly spamming me to enter this or use that... all coming with a fee, and I don't get many plays there either.

Nobody listens to music on myspace anymore. My song counter is pretty lonely these days. I used to get lots of plays every day. Now not even when I add new fans. Hell I don't even get much mail there anymore.

If you have acoustic based music ezfolk seems to have more people listening than either of them and it's tiny.

Myspace was crap.

I can't get Reverbnation to play any music, & although I joined & ASKED them about the problem, they never responded, so imho, they are crap, too.

I won't go back to either one. Screw 'em both.

Maybe people will start realizing that the internet isn't as great as they thought it was. And maybe, some people will realize that MP3's are second rate quality and come with no artwork or layout of any kind. Maybe music will start selling in tangible formats again.

Aside from communication and information, I don't see anything that explosive about the internet. In fact, it can be intrusive for people who don't want the world to know everything about them.

Sorry, a little soapbox episode.

Whoever can come up with the most creative and convenient website is going to be very, very sucessful. I bet that something is just around the corner, and is going to take down all of the current popular networking sites.

Reverb over Myspace. Myspace was never geared towards our kind/Age

I’m still happy with Soundclick player works fine, unlimited uploads, embedded links and it’s pretty straight forward. Like myspace without song limits and it actually works.

I think you'll really like the site. It's been around for 10 years now. Richard Hefner started the site, then sold it and is now running it.
There are a lot of quality artists on the site. Over 3500 in all I believe.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

Just found that ReverbNation has a pretty cool gig-finder Application
