Sans, I still long for that guitar daily.

You're right Phil! That's the guitar you're talking about. The Bigsby on it is great. Never goes out of tune. I know what you're saying though, Bigsby kind of downgraded over the years it seems. That guitar is too large to play live IMO, but it's great if you want to just rest it on your knee and jam.

LOL.

No but I asked my parents for a guitar once or twice, to no avail.

There was an old clunker beat up acoustic in the family.

It was more a deterrent than an encouragement.

I often wondered how anyone could fret those strings. Now of course I understand how horridly bent the neck was on that thing.

No I'd rather forget it, it took 6 months to find out I was playing it out of tune, took me couple weeks to learn how to tune it and took me couple days to find out it wouldn't stay in tune more then 2 minutes.

Can't remember the brand it was some gypsy brand.

I begged for a guitar for Christmas in'75. Never got my wishes unless I buy it myself. In '81 I bought an electric, a Washburn Eagle (in carved rosewood top laminated with maple in a solid neck-body double cutaway. I still have and play it among the rest of my collection despite extreme hardships through the years. Many have tried to talk me out of it, but I might has well be selling my soul. The guy at Signature Music wants me to will it to him. My son (19) loves music but never takes a shine to take one off the wall, as he is always welcome to. I have considered his offer, (no dollar amount mentioned), but I know she would go to a loving home without mothballs.

As often as I asked for a guitar, I, too, had to buy my own, from monies I made working in the tobacco fields as a youth.

My first guitar was a used mid to late 70's Electra Strat copy, black with a white pickguard. I paid $80 bucks for it in 1982 at the local music store and my '74 Delta 88 broke down on the way home. I left the car (got back to it later) and walked the rest of the way home with that guitar in my hands like it was my girlfriend. It was actually a fairly decent player and I learned alot on that thing, but both the car and guitar where stolen during hurricane Elaina in 1985. Ah....good times!

Mine was a natural finish Memphis Strat copy that looked like Richie Blackmore's guitar that he has on the inner sleeve of the first "Rainbow" LP.
It got stolen in the 80's, I put Dimarzio's in that puppy and it killed !!!!
