Next time just lie, get the job and keep looking.
Knowing that at some time they may do a background
check on you and compare against your application.
Many, many co. dont do it because it cost $ to do that.
You need to go into survival mode.
You are not playing on a level field if you know what I mean.
I wonder who did get that job?

Now see, the guy what got a job there, the one who referred me, has a FELONY RECORD. He did not lie to get the job. He has a record for B & E & grand THEFT, but they're gonna exclude ME from their job ranks. This guy can't even VOTE cuzza his record, but he gets a job & I don't?

This makes no sense to me. There must be something else going on, mustn't there?

WTF is wrong with ppl?

Obviously they read some of your diatribes here and concluded you're a nut.

But seriously, f*ck 'em. It takes quite a few interviews in this job market to land a decent job. Just keep pushing on. And don't show all your cards.

Yeah, and they wonder why so many people are repeat offenders and why our jails or overcrowded. Duh, because you just let them out of jail without any opportunity to get work, idiots!

Wanna talk about bad luck, Phil, read about these guys:

http://www.norfolkfour.com/

I saw this on KCET "Frontline" the other night. These men had their lives destroyed because lazy ass detectives who wanted to quickly solve the crime so they could get their promotion. What's interesting is one guy, no mentioned here, was arrested who was proved to be out of the state and at work at the time of the murder! He was still arrested and spent time in jail before they were forced to release him. This is absolutely appalling what happened to these men and I wrote the Governor just yesterday going the f**k off about it.

As long as there is 10 % unemployment the people looking to hire someone is going to be real picky. Us older folk will have more problems especially if you have a conviction for stupid stuff like pot. But I would bet it was more another reason than that. If you want to come down here I have an opening for a good handyman, plumber ,gas fitter. I wont piss test you unless you hurt yourself and try to collect workmans comp. What a person does in their spare time doesn't bother me untill they bring it to work, then they are gone. If I tested everyone looking for a job I wouldn't find any help at all. Then again if they didn't want to hire you because of the conviction , they should have been forced to give you a chance and test you.

Thanks, #1. I'd have passed it if they had, btw.

jimmy - I never even got to the interview stage. The temp agency looked at the application & checked it with a check list from FedEx. She did say she'd email them to see if the fact that the offense was 31 years old would have any bearing on things...but I think it's real funny that a convicted felon, who had stolen, passed through their list of 'do not hires.' What a crock!

I've given up on the day job thing around here. I've worked out a deal with a friend, & I'll be able to borrow some equipment until I afford my own, so it's back to solo work for me!

Screw this system. I'll just hafta work around it until it comes to its senses.

Sorry to hear that Philby!

When looking for a job it is no time to be modest or honest. When I go in for an interveiw I look at it that if you don't hire me its YOUR LOSS!

One of the guys I work with has a saying and that is Nice guys don't only finish last they finish DEAD LAST! When searching for employment unfortunately you have to tell them what they want to hear. That goes against what good folk want to say but ITS a CRUEL HARD world out there! No one say's you have to join them, but WE ARE TALKIN SURVIVAL HERE! In a quote from my FAVORITE movie! "you have to go to the matresses"

JH is totally right there. You can't apply for a job as YOURSELF. They are looking for some fantasy "dream employee" that doesn't exist. So, you gotta play the part to get in. It sucks. But, that's the way of the world these days. These social mind games are part of the reason why I can't seem to go anywhere without pissing people off. I'm terrible at them.

I got the foot print on my crotch as well.

Seems like someone is always trying to halt your progress because they can.

Or maybe god is getting even with you for killing all those bugs as a child. LOL

(I burned them with a magnifying lens and I'd do it again)
