I came across something odd.

I was listening to PANDORA, when I heard PAUL RODGERS do this tune called "GOOD MORNING LITTLE SCHOOL GIRL. I couldn't get it on YouTube without it being a Richie Sambora colaboration and it didn't sound the same.

I did find it in the hands of more than a few though including; THE GRATEFUL DEAD, ALMAN BROS., Derek Trucks and a few more. It was appalling.

So I get halfway through it and I heard a different tune in there. I was sure he stole this from someone else. So I poked about and finally figured out what and where.

If you find the other version with Paul Rodgers by himself it is almost a blatant copy note for note.

WHERE ARE THE LAWYERS? No one is getting sued? I am shocked. lol

To borrow and expand upon is ok, to outright steal is bad news.

I'm confused...Paul Rodger's version is a clone of Jimi's?


If that's the case, my question would be about royalties: Is Paul paying Jimi's estate to essentially play a cover song?

If memory serves, when Jimi covered someone else's work, he usually put his own spin on it. Seems unlikely in this case that he was the one borrowing if both songs sound so close...

It IS a really old song, many blues artists have done it WAY BEFORE anybody Captain mentioned. In my opinion the best version I ever heard was by Junior Wells. Not surprising, every cover Junior did was the best version of that song. You should listen to Train I Ride from Junior Wells "On Tap" album. (WARNING: Wear your Depends before listening...)
