My parents were hair nazis, esp my father. As soon as I moved out, I started growing it. It got to about my nips, & wouldn't get any longer, most likely cuz it's so fine that it keeps breaking off.
I got a lil perm in the 70's, & my dad swore I was gay. LOL I tried it again in 1980, but it burned, turned kinda orange, & looked like a Lucy Ricardo doo. I've kept it fairly short since then, except for '85, when I just quit cutting it, grew out my beard real long, & looked like some mountain man from the 19th century for a bit. I was a pretty scary sight for awhile.
Now I buzz it twice a year & trim it around the eyes & ears in between, cuz it's so thin, & it bugs me cuz it feels like a spider web when it starts to get too long.

I've done just about everything with my hair: long, short, buzzed, dyed several colors, dreadlocks, mohawk, permed, etc.
My hair isn't near ass-length as it once was, but it is a bit long again. I cut it for several years while I worked in a small factory, to avoid getting it caught in machinery. I started letting it grow back out when I worked in shipping & receiving. When I got fired it just became a moot point.

Mine was at it's longest during my first marriage after I actually stopped playing for quite a while... grew it down to my ass until I lost my job and had to go on interviews! I actually walked into a barber shop and got me a regular haircut... they were lovin' every minute of it! LOL I felt like I was preparing for boot camp!

I walked into freshman year with a mop I grew over the summer. Well I let that thing grow out till my senior year. I made a bet with the school for homecoming, if the senior class could raise so many pounds in food for the food drive, I'd shave my head. Well they about doubled it. So I got my head shaved at the homecoming pep rally.
After school, joined the Marines, so I haven't had long hair since. All the girls I never stood a chance with in the day LOVE it now.
