What's up with the new rules about not hitting hard in the NFL? There's always been defenders who hit hard and caused injuries (Dick Butkus, Ronnie Lott, Richard Dent, Mike Singletary, Jack Lambert,etc.). Maybe the NFL will turn into the NFFL, the National Flag Football League like Brian Urlacher said. Maybe they should adopt similar rules in other sports. How about the bull riders switch to donkeys? How about major league baseball switches to wiffle ball? How about hockey makes players wear parachutes so they can't skate as fast, thus not hit others as hard? Maybe the NFL should eliminate helmets and pads altogether so they can't hit as hard? How about boxing gloves stuffed with Tempurpedic foam? Everybody going into a dangerous sport knows the risks. Intimidation has always been a part of football. It is the defenders job to STOP THE FORWARD PROGRESS OF BALL CARRIERS. People get hurt in the sport, are the NFL head honchoes becoming pansies?

I dunno about all the fines, but the ones on james harrison were definitely warranted. First, he hit josh cribbs, helmet to helmet, after the play was over. You can bitch and moan about "it's a man's game" and "stopping forward progress" all you want, but the play was over. The forward progress as stopped, and it was time to move on to the next play in the "man's game". Then, within the next 7 minutes, he put another helmet-to-helmet hit on Mohamed Massoquoi (who, with cribbs, makes up 2/3's of the wide receivers on the browns with any sort of production) while he was up receiving the ball. Now, when a player goes up to receive the ball, he better be ready to get laid out. But when a player goes out of their way to get helmet-on-helmet contact, that's completely uncalled for.

tl;dr.... James Harrison is a thug and a piece of sh*t.

Yeah...those guys should be able to be crippled for life all for our entertainment...

After all...it's not a game unless someone gets hurt....

WE should just do it right and give them all knives....

Sorry to be so hard but really.....

I loved the sound and feel of the crash when I played.

Hell yes !! It was the only reason I stepped on the field.
I was going to light somebody's ass up, or get lit up trying.

Now I care less about team sports.

How life changes.

Baseball players are paid more. Talk about pansies, their sport is nothing but standing around for like four hours. I'm not even sure why it's called a sport.

Maybe you're too young to remember the Superstar athlete shows back in the 70's, possible into the 80's. It was an athletic competition between major sports athletes in sporting events other than the major sports such as track and filed, skiing, bowling, golf, etc. The baseball players were usually the best athletes of the major sports. I wouldn't call trying to hit a 100mph fastball with movement exactly standing around. For that matter a third baseman fielding a line drive at 135 mph isn't exactly standing around either....

No, I wasn't around back in the 70's, or the 80's. And I understand that the players have to go swing their wood around sometimes, and once in a while, they've gotta have some reflexes, but all in all, baseball is the most boring, pointless, shitty game on the planet.
