Thanks for coming out to the show last Mike, it's always cool to meet a fellow Bandmixer. Were you there for the "incident"?

Saturday, October 16, 2010 - The Farleys with Manic's Rage and Due North at Simon's. We went on first and generally rocked the place. Rasta's Lady Raga costume was a hit, and even though he was sick he put on a great show. Manic's Rage followed us; they're old friends who we've done shows with for years. They're now a three piece, with Bob Noxious handling the bass and lead vocals. This was the best I ever heard them; poor bass playing has always been their weakness and Bob did a great job. The problem was they took forty minutes to setup, and Due North got their noses out of joint. The minute Manic's Rage finished Due North began moving their gear on stage before the former could get theirs off. Very rude, but even worse they tossed Bob's bass on the floor! Needless to say Manic's Rage was pissed, as was I, and I let Due North know in no uncertain terms. Before I knew it one their girlfriends was in my face yelling and brawl almost broke out. I understand their frustration and desire to get on stage before the bar cleared out, but the fact is you don't act rude and offend the other bands.

I like to hear BandMixaleros supporting each other.

Conflict ? In a bar setting ?? Noooo ... tell me it's not sooo.

Seriously Jimmy, glad it did not go too far.

I would've stuck around for the other bands if I weren't having breathing problems. I had to rush home to my inhaler. Didn't have enough cash to pick one up at a store.

I thought he should stick to the drag thing. It distracts from his vocals, not to say he was really bad. But, you did say he was sick. :)

The rest of the band were really tight and spot on. You play very well.

My chops are a little rusty. And I was never Luciano Pavarotti myself. But, punk rock has a way of making none of that matter much.

I wish I would have known you needed an inhaler, my doc prescribed a couple of them a few weeks ago when I had an upper respiratory infection and didn't use them. I hope you're feeling better, thanks again for coming out.

Man, I hate ego driven, impatient musicians. I almost had an incident too when one of the guys from American Heartbreak rolled my Marshall off the stage. Security had to almost get involved over that ordeal!

Anyone touches our gear besides us and they're going to the hospital...or morgue. My common-law-wife is a trained martial artist and frequently armed.

The people on my guest list are there to help load up and help make sure nobody gets equipment ripped off. Most of my dings are from the only few times anyone decided to just "jump in" and "help".

There's also those guys you don't know who want to borrow equipment. Bad experience has made me anal about it.

We don't really have anybody who could help. I thought about stenciling "PISS OFF" on our stuff. It probably wouldn't do any good.

Har-dee-Har-Har

In all seriousness, neither of us are really fit to be doing this sh*t. But, it beats staring at the walls all day.

Part of the reason we need more bandmates is to help with the physical stuff.

I could just record at home by myself.

I was helping my friend's band at the school talent show when one of the regular talent show crew decided to help out with moving the drumkit on stage.

I had to dive across the stage when I saw the snare slipping out of her hands. I managed to catch it, with only a little stage rash on my elbow. Happily, the curtains were open (someone else being incompetent) and I got some applause. :P

I was sore Sunday from lugging gear up stairs, packing in the car, moving into venue, setting up, tearing down, etc. But I always said I would quit if I couldn't do it anymore.

One of the reasons people on farms traditionally had large families was to get extra helping hands. So have some kids! My son James helped me move gear that night, but he couldn't budge my Marshall bless his heart!

"Hey hon, let's have some little slaves...er...roadies."

Not really an option for us anyway.

We got lucky sat night my trailer was right next to the "STAGE", Jimmy you will get a kick out of this we played in pea gravel! We had to rip a couple of pieces of plywood off a building to set our drummers carpet on. My pedal board was full of dust and pea gravel, my drummer and i were talking and years ago we used to play in a huge tractor shed on dirt, but this was the first time in gravel. But the good part was our board rack was only 10 ft from the back of our trailer. All of our equipment is on wheels so if its flat its no problem.

You mention stairs. Years ago we played this Metal Bar called Rascals in midtown Memphis. It was upstairs in the old Overton Square area. The stairs went striaght down from the bar ot the street. One of our friend bands was moving his 8x10 Ampeg bass cabinet out and it got a way from them and went out onto the street. Im told a car hit the cab and suffered major damage. To the best of my knowlege hes still using that cab today 22 yrs later. They dont build them like they used to.

I guess if we were asked to play upstairs these days I would have to pass. Thinking back to dowtown Memphis. I was in a band that di some Peabody Hotel roof partys 20 yrs ago. At that time we had to carry our equipment up a couple of stair cases and get in theis service elevator thing. If you had a couple of pieces of equipment it was a royal bitch to get in and out of there. We didnt have to carry PA! they supplied it but i felt sorry for those guys moving a sound system around. I took a half stack the first time, but the second time I borrowed one of those little Sansamp pedals and my pedals and did the whole show and walked out thru the front lobby with my gear. LOL

Speaking of wheels, stairs, and simplifying gear...anyone got any ideas how to make everything easier to transport for disabled people. No heavy lifting?
