Yup it was a botch job. I found what was wrong. Never mind, not life threatening, its only music after all. Trouble is that now I've straightened it, I've lost the feel it had.
You know? It's like when you play a song live and it goes just fantastic, everyone likes it. But somehow, it just never sounds the same again.

Anyway. Many thanks and yes apologies.
I will redouble my efforts and pull it!

Chip, I don't accept that as an answer. It wasn't wrong, you were simply in a state of finding the right sound for everything. The hubs tell me stuff like that and I tell him he can do it, and after we bump heads, he finds he did it even better than the first time.

I like the song and like I said, it has a lot of potential. This is an excellent opportunity to create and find something. I don't know what that is yet, but then I love venturing where I have no idea where I'll come out.

Hey Cheaya.
No worries at all. thank you very much indeed.
Yes I'm looking at a lot of what you are saying at the moment. I'm not really a vocalist, so this is really new to me, sure I've hummed a thousand tunes and sang along, done some Karaoke and that kind of stuff, but never measured my own stuff with my voice.

Hahahaha I'm going to have trouble with staying away from my favorite genre and band. I doubt that will ever happen sadly. It really is where I live. I think other stuff I have will perhaps make that clear? What I'm doing is just getting all of this out really, its been years, too long. I want to get into a band again at some point, which would be just great. This first though because it screws situations up like that, if you've not done what you wanted to do I suppose.

Great advice by the way, Sure I'll try that.
Thanks very much indeed Cheaya
:D

I like the essence of the song and the ambience. I like drum and bass and that genre. This song has such great potential.

But I don't like the drums. I don't think it fits with your vocal arrangement and sound, unless you use less words and draw them out more. I would direct you to Yello and how Dieter Meier uses his voice. It works.

I also would stay away from Phil Collins and seek something more original. That's just me.

I would start off with a slower more defined drum pattern then if you want to increase it later or at certain points, that would be interesting while still keeping the ambience. Try a lower, huskier tone of voice because it will fit better with the mystical, ambient sound you have going or play with some different sounds of your voice until you find something really unique. Think Leonard Cohen, but less depressing. I love when guys do that.

I listen to a lot of Delerium, Enigma and Yello.

I've posted the video to "Sitting on the Moon" by Enigma. I love this song because I listen to it while working on my novel. But you can listen to his voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctF_gAqQelE

I hope you don't mind, I'm not saying you should sound like them, but it's only for ideas.

Well, if you really love Phil, then do a tribute band. The tribute circuit is pulling in bucks right now, especially if you pick the right band and you can get Phil's voice rather decent. I say, work it and do what you love!

Nah, not my style to cover things really Chaeya.
Again, I'm not really a singer, though for many years I've wanted to, don't we all at some point I suppose?

Thanks Chaeya.

First off I do like this song!
And I agree that your voice puts Genesis in mind, but pre-Collins vocals (anyone remember the good Genesis).

Sorry Phil.
Pulled it. There was a noise on there that was only picked up by a small set of PC headphones, manager found it. Damned good ears!
Sure enough it was there alright.

Spent a few hours getting rid of it.

Thanks! I think changing it was the wrong thing to do frankly. From now on I'll just follow my instinct. Thanks Stranger, I'm one too. Best regards.

Chippy, how close are you to getting the whole list of songs finished? Did you ever go and listen to Weirdsville.com? For the record, that place has been standing for two decades I believe.

I didn't know you had a manager. How's that working out?
