This Friday night at DTE, probably the last outdoor concert for 2010 for me. I've seen Jerry Cantrell but not AIC, should be a great show.

Thanks George, I'll save 90's b.a.l. for the following Monday when we're doing a set at a potentially new venue.

That's a concert I'd kill to see. A.I.C. is by far my favorite band of all time. Deftones is frikkin awesome as well.

You never know. Their guitar player could come down with the flu at the last minute, and they might call on you to fill in.

Or......they might call you onstage as a guest artist......

Or.....the crowd might start shouting your name and demanding that you play......

Or......I have a reading comprehension problem.

LOL as long as they call me before that third beer I'll be ready. Jerry Cantrell has some pretty big boots to fill but I'll give it hell.

The list of reasons is quite long at this point. lol I got to see them at X-Fest in Dayton, OH last year, and once time/money/life in general allows, I will see them again. :D

Friday, September 17, 2010 - Alice in Chains with Deftones and Mastodon at DTE. We arrived at 7:30 with Deftones on stage. The show started at 6:30pm; how do they expect people who work to be there by then? They sounded pretty good but the soundman screwed them, as is usual at DTE. At one point the PA was turned off and the crowd started booing; they eventually restored the sound. Deftones took too long between songs, and their song selection did not seem appropriate for a concert. Finally AIC came on and blew the place apart, starting with "Them Bones", "Damn That River", "Rooster" and songs from their latest release. Jerry Cantrell is amazing; you can tell that this is his band and he is in control. The stage and lighting were excellent, and these guys look like rock stars. New vocalist William DuVall never missed a beat, sounding as good or better than Layne Staley and also helping out on guitar. After saying goodnight they returned to play "Man in the Box" and "Would?" for encores. The nearly sold out crowd roared their approval. If you can do it go see these guys, you will not be disappointed.

Yeah George it was. They had a video of action in Viet Nam playing while they did "Rooster" (Cantrell's father served during that war). Very touching.

The lyrical references in ROOSTER are unmistakable.

Hard for me to describe the " feel " their sound creates with words.

But they do it masterfully.
