I don't question their legitimacy as a company. I understand that it is a business and not an art club. Maybe they were inundated with responses and haven't time to reply to the artists.
I guess the days of the industry investing in you just because your music is good is over; now it seems that you have to have everything except the contract (touring band, product, large fan base) or a very popular jingle or ring tone or something. I don't know.
Back in the day when producers sought out quality material/artists you only needed talent... well that's all I have so it seems that unless I'm willing to sell myself for a pittance of the revenue (my offers so far) I'm just outa luck.

And yes I understand that money is tight in the industry right now, but I'd still like to see someone take a chance now n then.

Any time I see an advertisement that I might consider. I must by all common sense "judge them".
Nothing personal, it's business.
First impressions are important when offering "for fee" services.
To have read and understood the form and function of this Forum & then post where it says

MUSICIAN SERVICES
Offer you professional services here.

Would indicate some attention to detail.
Attention to details is very important in the entertainment industry.

Perhaps they do pay great attention to details.
This entry does not reflect that.

The industry doesn't invest anything anymore, they like to come in after YOU'VE done all the work and made yourself popular with your own fanbase.

A legitimate management or production company WILL APPROACH YOU. Think about it, people go through directories to find out artist management firms and there are plenty who will accept unsolicited material. That means they have a slush pile of demos people mail them to rival any A&R guy's office and they clean it out and trash the stuff once maybe once a week or once a month. Do you honestly think they're going to go on a music forum and post an ad advertising their services?

This company has their own record label, their own photography and their own booking agency, and coffee? I was waiting to see "hair care" somewhere down the list. If you just want to play music and you have limited resources where you are, this may be a good deal. If you're looking to get your music shopped to a known indie label or major label, this is not the company for you.

One red flag for me was them stating not to contact their artists about their services. If you're doing a good job, wouldn't you want people to ask your customers what they think about you? Or what, is there just such a major rush of people hangering for their services that their artists are overwhelmed?

If you're interested in professional management, I'll advise you to go to the Music Connection - www.musicconnection.com and go to their archives, March 2010 issue which talks about what to expect from management and has a directory of management companies.

Self publishing and self promotion is the way to go. Don't hold your breath while waiting for some bigshot to "discover" you. Promote yourself and keep all the money yourself. I'm convinced that musical ability has nothing to do with success in the "music business." The "music business" these days is all about image and controversy and almost nothing about virtuosity. Get your music on as many free or nearly free internet radio stations as possible. Record your own CD and sell it at your gigs. Tell everyone you know that you have your own CD for sale, carry them with you and SELL them. Try and get local radio stations that are listener supported to give you airtime, that's GIVE as in FREE airtime. Send PR bulletins to every local newspaper in your area announcing your new CD so that you can get stories about you printed in the newspapers. If you are "discovered" great, but don't count on it. Instead count on how good a musician you are or how good your band is and promote yourself as often as you have time for. Treat your music as a BUSINESS and GET AFTER IT YOURSELF....and for Heaven's sake make sure you get PAID for your performances IF somebody is making a profit off your HARD WORK...

Thats what makes this site so awesome!

Oh and you get those flash in the pan folks that come thru here every once in a while. They get pissed when no one responds to their drivel and say this site sucks for charging 10 bucks. It is the tenascious folks that understand! Stick with things and you might just get somewhere! 8)

I think we often jump too hard on the newbies, though, who are trying to start up a new company that serves musos.

Perhaps Phil.

But if I were to come to you guys as musicians and expect you to pay for my services, and did not look professional.

If you've had publishing offers on it, take it.
You should be like that doritos slogan, "Eat all you want. we'll make more."
Meaning, even if it's not the greatest deal in the world, you'll keep writing songs.
If your initial offering does well, then with the next batch you could negotiate with someone else for moooolaaaa.
