I USED TO OWN 3 SQUIER STRATS AND THE GOOD THING ABOUT THEM IS THAT YOU CAN GET THEM CHEAP AS HELL!! SO I USE THEM AS MY PROJECT DUMMIES I PRACTICE MY WIRING AND JUST PUT A BUNCH OF sh*t ON AND SEE WATS UP!!! OTHER THAN THAT THEY PLAY ALRIGHT!! THEIR ALSO A GUITAR IM NOT AFFRAID TO TAKE TO THE BEACH!!! OR LET OTHERS PLAY! ALSO ITS USEFULL FOR PRACTICEING GUITAR THROWS AND OTHER sh*t YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO TRY WITH IT'S AMERICAN VERSION!! I OWN A KRAMER , A DIME-O-FLAME, A SCHECTER, ESP, AND AN AMERICAN 1989 FENDER STRAT! THE AMERICAN STRAT HAS MORE SUSTAIN AND DOESN'T HAVE A RADDLE NOISE WEN I PLAY IT COMPARED TO THE SQUIERS!! ALL IN ALL IM THANKFULL FOR THE SQUIERS CUZ I LOVE EXPERIMENTING AND FIGURING STUFF OUT!! AND I WOULDNT DO IT TO ONE OF THE COSTLY GUITARS!! YOU CAN GET A SQUIER STRAT ON CRAIGS LIST FOR LIKE $30 - $40

The guitarist in one o my bands (and my favorite) would not pay more than $75 for a guitar and always bought from pawn shops. He would find a 71 Dyna or a 64 Kay or some other cheap off brand with 3 pu's and 10 switches on it, and make the most fantastic and original sounds with it. I never hear "good" guitars get the guts and razors sound he got with those cheap junk off brand guitars!

not that I wouldn't want a fine guitar, I would... just no jingle for the one I would want so Squires are a good bet for the money.

Only the early 80s Japan Squire stuff is worthy, the rest is crap.

I've an 88 Squire Strat that I replaced the entire works - pick-guard & pups & wiring - with USA Strat stuff. Now it's black on black, & I think that looks better. I KNOW it sounds better! It also has the Fender locking nut w/the whammy, & really prefer that to the Floyd Rose. I'm very happy with my Squire, now. Before I replaced the guts it had grounding or phasing issues that I couldn't seem to fix or get fixed.

The worst guts of these squires are the mexican made squires/strats.

You can always tell by looking at their pickups. They are basically only the poles with 2 magnets as opposed to a solid pickup.
