Nice observations.. Reggae is meant to be peaceful. A lot of times even when a Reggae song has a darker less peaceful subject matter, generally you'll find that in the end there's a purpose of awareness that needs to be addressed to achieve a peaceful solution.
There are quite a few people who ask me how and why did I make a transformation from Hard-Core to Reggae. And I think the latter of that explanation is what drew me to be interested in the genre. I had gone through years of being in bands that deal with the darker sides of life. I am a dark lord, hear me roar. I am evil, life has screwed me over, I hate my parents, Satan rules, I am the person you should fear, life is evil, kill die, kill die, slash, burn, feel sorry for me, blah,blah,blah..
In reality, I had a great childhood. Why so angry? I don't know, I just liked the music. Korn, Tool, Rage, Deftones, MM, Slipknot.. Still love it. Not my calling.
When I joined this band, I found a better avenue to express myself in a way that tips the scale a little more on the positive side.
Bob Marley and Peter Tosh were the OG Rage Against the Machine. They just did their thing in a less negative manner.

In this band, that's the role I play. I deal with different subject matter than the other guys in a darker shade. But the message is still positive in the end. War against atrocity, spirituality in check.
