The days of being an unskilled, untrained worker and still being middle class are gone I'm afraid. Even those with skills, education and experience have taken a little hit (I know I did).

On the bright side, my daughter just got a job at major newspaper in NYC. She was hoping for more but she got 86K to start with full benefits, three weeks vacation and one week of personal days as well as a $5000 signing bonus. But she has mad skills.

This thread reflects the state of our current economy, we all have our own spin as to why the strongest economy in the world has been rendered impotent to even provide employment to the most productive and hardworking work force in the world. There was a time when paying taxes was an annoying inconvenience, we didn’t mind too much because we had job which paid enough to cover our living expenses with a possibility to save part of the paycheck, now those jobs are gone and I’m afraid forever and we are still forced to pay taxes at an increased rate while the work force cries between 9 ½ % unemployment amongst adult professional and 22% when including teenagers.

Here is my spin as to why we’re in trouble, grant you is not the only reason but IMO its one major contributing factor along with the collusion between corporate America and their paid agents better known as elected officials.

Glad to hear someone I know of is doing well.

It's death valley around here and Chippy, you may remain silent as far as I am concerned.

You are like the rest of them, one only hears from them when they want something. (look on Craigslist, cnj, edison, "Help Desk" and you'll find it, cheesey)

If you are willing to work for nothing, that's what they will pay you.
