Remember a while back when I talked about how cool it would be to do a compilation from everyone willing to do this from the BM community? Well, since we have more people here why not discuss some possible ideas?

I mean, what do we need to do, get one to two songs by every player on here? If dividing up cd's is a problem then why not just send a copy to CDBaby.com and do DDistribution? I don't care about the money so someone have any suggestions on how to divy it up? I would say offer it free, but then the compilation wouldn't get enough people to notice...Apple and Amazon can.

How about promotion?
Should reviewing a song be done before it's put on the comp? Like for sound quality, production...etc?
Does a rule of thumb sound good for the song order?
Should the money made go to a reputible charity?
How about art? I know some people, but it would cost. Who else here is good at visual art of any kind?
What about collabs with people from here!?

Maybe this could take a little time, but not too much.I would be willing to rent some equipment( especially recording) and make it sound pretty good.

So who's game? Speak up. Input highly suggested!

* Keep the CD genre centric. In other words, all metal or all blues. A CD of mixed genres won't do as well as one that is more specific.

* No cover songs. It's just easier not to deal with obtaining licensing, etc.

* Get it mastered by somone who specializes in mastering.

* Collections with a theme can work well (i.e. songs about the sea, etc).

* Avoid songs with profanity if possible.

Hmmm, good suggestions. No profanity is a good one. Believe it or not, I don't use profanity in songs, just don't need it.

As far as genres go, I definitely see your point. You can maybe compromise on a few things. I actually think that if everybody collaborated on different things via file then that would work...and would take a while to complete. The whole process would have to be out of trust and faith...which is what musicians have lost sight of because of the dirt.

Now mastering? oooh, didn't think about that. It could cost a good $600 at least. Unless someone knows the mastering process and is sufficient.
