When I was living in New Jersey in the early 80's I saw the Bill Blue Band at the Stanhope House. They had a young lead guitarist named Glenn Pavone. He was one of the most awesome guitaists I ever had the pleasure of listening to live. A few years later he joined forces with Pittsburgh area blues and soul singer Billy Price. He just passed away after a three year battle with cancer. Glenn was a remarkably humble person considering what a monster talent he was on guitar. There's a bunch of great blues artists in heaven who welcomed Glenn with open arms....

God must be preparing one heck of a show considering how many musicians he has called home this year.

All the real talents die right as it starts to get interesting.

THere's a number of decent Youtube videos of Glenn. Just search Youtube Glenn Pavone and you'll find a few. There's a really good one of him playing Red House by Jimi Hendrix. The sound quality isn't the best but you can hear his geniius guitar playing.

You should have heard Glenn when he was in the Bill Blue Band, talk about awesome. I never did find out why he went with Billy Price, maybe better money. The original Bill Blue line-up that we first saw in the early 80's had some incredible musicians in it. Glenn on lead guitar, Bill Blue on vocals & rhythm and slide guitar, Dave Carey on bass, Mark Crump on drums. I forget the two horn players names (sax and trumpet). Those guys were the ultimate ass-kickin band I ever saw. Talk about putting on a show...

I am glad that you were there to appreciate his talent & work, bob, & sorry to hear that he's gone.
