OK.

How long do you think it will be before some band cuts some shots of a big concert audience and then pans to their band on stage? I'm sure someone will in time. And if it is done poorly enough, it might even go viral.

I read about this garbage a while back!

Any really genuine musician will protest this. The industry thinks they're gonna stay in control...f**k them!

There's a bar we play here that does this. And let me tell you, you better be on your game when you do this. We'll be streaming live tonight in fact, but for most of you it'll be like 4 in the morning.

I personally don't like it. For one, the sound quality of the stream isn't very good. It doesn't really give you the vibe of being there. It's very sterile sounding. You thought relying on a sound guy was bad??? Try this. There have been 2 times that this bar has done it, and now after watching both, I don't care to watch the video archive. Not due to any mistakes I've made, but more because of the sound quality and perceived sterility of the show that it gives off. In both of our cases, the camera was set to one side right next to ONE PA speaker. So you couldn't hear one guitar, and the other was Blasting. Same with vocals. One mic is louder than another, so you can hear the backup louder than the lead vocal going on. It's just a mess.

If anyone makes a mistake, it is now archived for anyone to see later. So you better be on top of it, because a lot of times, that's what people gravitate to and remember if it's bad enough. A lot of the good stuff gets forgotten in place of mistakes. Just wait til the influx of bigger names get their mistakes archived. I have no doubt, you'll start to see this kind of thing go away.

I'm personally not in favor of this kind of thing. Although one good thing about it is that Ryan and IZ's family in Hawaii can see the show. It's way too expensive for them to come here for one.

Take this scenario for instance. Tonight I will be playing guitar for another artist. I barely had time to prepare for her songs. They're not songs I've played in the past or am familiar with. I'm sure to make mistakes tonight during her set. It's not quiet ingrained in my head yet. But it's gonna be streaming, and I'd rather it wasn't. Not looking forward to it at all.
