I sent him the link to Windows Updates last night to hopefully speed up the process. More than likely that will eventually fix the conflict.
First, he Firefox wasn't totally up to date. We took care of that, but then when the Flash update is attempted, it wants to install Adobe Download Manager. I'm pretty sure it's that that's failing with some really long system error, so Flash can't be updated yet. I'm also nearly positive it's failing because ADLM is designed to work with current Windows updates, and isn't recognizing the system state as it was however far back it is in its updating.
He's gonna try Microsoft's update page for a while and either keep going with that until there are no critical updates needed, or check along the way to see if the DLM will install.
The printer issue may or may not work itself out in the process too, but even if it doesn't he should be able to go directly to the manufacturer's site and get the latest one to take care of that once the Window updates are where they need to be.
Sent, in the future go to filehippo.com.
You can get flash stuff without having to deal with the adobe download manager. That what I did cuz I refuse to play Adobes little game. Especially on Win 7.
(You can get lots of other stuff too)
