Lately I've been contacted by a number of musicians. Since my self employment is so slow I am going to audition for a number of different bands, projects, a few that are NOT blues oriented. I've been offered a few full time band jobs in the past but turned them down for the stability of my own service business. But these days there isn't a whole lot of service business to be had. I'm playing tonight with an original rock start-up project. The lead guitarist wants to do nothing but originals (yeah!) and only wants to perform concerts. His health won't allow him to play the four set bar gigs. Apparently he's got connections in the music world and claims that if all goes like he's planning we'll be performing concert gigs within six months. Believing is seeing but first I'm headed towards his place this evening. The only reason (other than the $$ potential) I'm checking this out is he sounds like a nice guy on the phone. His musical style may not be optimum for me but I've played everything at one time or another. Hopefully my originals will blend in well with what he's doing and I think I can certainly help anybody out on vocals. Why not give it a try, I've got nothing much going on anyway...

There ain't a reason in the world why you shouldn't, bob.

I'm in the same boat, really. I'm auditioning for a band on Monday, & I'm working on some other stuff for that guy who sat in with me last Fri night.

Most of the stuff looks pretty interesting, too. I wish it was original stuff, though, cuz that always gives me more room to come up with my own take on a song.

Hey, bucks is bucks, & my daytime gig is all dried up...

You know Bob. Judging by your posts and my perception of your personality I'd wager you that any genre project that goes well and keeps you earning some $ doing what you love will be acceptable.
Go for it brother.

As Paul Stanley might say.

You got nothing to lose!
