My apologies too Hayden.
I should not have spoken in such a way to you.
I really do understand our frustrations with the governance.
But there are still men among us whom seek to apply the Golden Rule instead of the rule of gold..

Yeah sure, I also have know a few police officers personally of decent caliber. But a big point to note is the ones that are decent or in anyway righteous, are not that way because anything in the system forces them to be, they just are.

That leaves any other jerkoff with a badge full reign, to do anything they think they can get away with. Nobody is going to argue that it’s the “good” cops that are a problem I would have to say in my few dealings with law officers, that a small percentage were wrong minded and some even corrupted.

The problem is when they give that other incompetent percent a gun, with the authority to harass, beat, or shoot me, if I conflict in anyway with their ineptness.

Agreed
A degree should be mandatory, and not from a police academy or the military; we are not enemy combatants, we are US citizens!
If your going to have a gun and the right and responsibility of instantaneous life and death judgment calls, you should damn well be trained to the hilt!

It’s not about training and really not about cop “cowboys”. I have personally known and met a fair share of extremely well trained nut cases. Sans just for the record, I am in no way questioning your morality, or saying it’s a majority problem. But I bet even in your small neck of the woods, there is at least one officer on your force who is questionable regarding stability. The one everyone would want as back up in a pinch, but regard as perhaps reckless a good percent of the other time. The one who doesn’t dot every “I” and cross every “t”. Of course that also depends upon the force size. It’s not the fault of the policing force, when the citizens demand a fool proof twenty four hour guardian angel and that’s what they are all striving for. The enforcement has to be more aggressive to meet the ridiculous goal and carries more cynicism when they can’t.

Given the choice how many would desire a zero percent crime rate? And without a thought my guess is maybe seven out of ten people, would think such a thing would be outstanding. The problem with our safety hysterical populace, is the amount of liberty such a goal would cost. Certainly the Nazis had low crime rates where they had sufficient man power and that is the point. When I renewed my driver’s license for the second time since the new ID laws, they once again needed six points of ID. Really? So I guess those six points didn’t work out all that well the first time I had to use them? Or is it really about building compliance, so every few years I can go to the DMV and be accounted for? Just checking in sir. Yeah sure a driver’s license is a privilege, just like owning a home, or having food to eat. Those are “privileges” too.

When cops stop people late at night fishing for a DUI, it builds a tolerance for further intrusion. In new Jersey that probably happens at least once in every town, every Friday night. People now accept that and shrug it off. So maybe in like five ten years the occasional stop and search won’t be too bad either? Public cameras are now a new rage, cool yeah it’s like having a cop standing right out side every door. But is that a good thing? We don’t need to be independent, we just need more laws, more enforcement and more surveillance, to get the job done. Then I can sit back and do absolutely nothing to account for my own personal safety. It’s either the policing forces’ sole responsibility, or it isn’t. By forcing all that onto our governing municipalities, the citizenship isn’t just tolerating overbearing oversight, they are demanding it.

The drivers license is becoming less and less a priveledge all the time.
Try to get a job without one.
Plus, soon they will be scanning your license at convenience stores in order for you to buy tobacco products or alcahol.

(There is a funky fat barcode thing on the back of my license. I don't know about you guys.)

That sh*t just pisses me off. You know, if you do that to a cop, you get jail time. Did the cop get any jail time?? That's why some of them ARE punks who do stuff like that.

Last run in I had with a cop, I walked into a store that just got robbed. They didn't have any police line tape up yet. When I realized nobody was in the store and walked out, the cop started Screaming and cussing at me, and wanted to arrest me for accessory to armed robbery.

I looked at him and said, "Hey dude, do you really think I robbed a store in my work Van and stuck around while the cops came?? Who was supposed to be watching the door??"

Sure enough.. Guess who was supposed to be watching the door. Barney Fife himself. He was still being a d**k when he told me to leave as if I did something wrong. I wanted to punch the bastard just for being a dumbsh*t.

I would say I'm about 50/50 with my run-ins with cops. Half were cool, half were total A-holes. Either way, I haven't been arrested or even had a ticket in 22-years. There's my middle finger to the A-holes.
