Heck, I've played electric 4 & 5 string bass, acoustic & electric guitar, mandolin & percussion all on the same night in the same band. I loved doing that!

But Hayden, I think Paul has us both beat on versatility of genre.

Hell yes!!! That man could do ANYTHING, and make it sound so perfect. I once saw him playing a 12-string acoustic, doing percussive parts on the body, holding a bass line, and playing a lead all at the same time . Something that I'll never forget...RIP Roy.

IMHo, he is one of the most versatile vocalists on the planet. I first heard him sing the theme to Enterprise. I don't remember when I discovered that he was also an opera singer ( I hate opera BTW ) but this skill impresses me. I remember hearing sing opera on Oprah . The piece that he sang required him to use both voices. If you closed your eyes you would swear that you were hearing two different people singing.
I've heard Paverotti sing pop and he sounded like Pavarotti singing pop. I also hear Freddy Mercury sing opera but it just sounded like Freddie Mercury singing opera.

While looking for information on him,I discovered that he had an operation to remove a brain tumor back in 2007 which would be around the time that I saw him on Oprah.

Damn Philby, his singing of Funiculi Funicula isn't even all that good, but you no doubt, get my point. You should hear the song where he sings with both voices...it's like listening to 2 different people. Plus, I love the way he dresses.

I really wasn't impressed with the casual chatting intro he did in his trench coat, though. That was so cheesy it stank worse than limberger! Lounge singer from the '60's kinda stuff!

Yeah, I really wasn't trying to show him talking but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. But, he has sung much better in this style but so many links featured too much talking. I am going to post this on my FB wall.
