FunkDealer wrote:You lost me with "no druggies".

Also the first one is a ripoff of Moonlight Sonata without the wicked flow.

Your description starts about how awesome you are and you play festivals, (where many but of coarse not all, are using recreational drugs).

Then you go on to say: no drama, no druggies, no egos.

I am glad you said you will not get offended by other musicians honest opinions, because I honestly think you are a douche.

Dude! There are lots of festivals that don't have drugs being used everywhere. Check out your local town festivals & arts festivals. They aren't ALL hippie fests fulla dread locks & drum circles & glass pipe vendors & smelly unwashed hippie-wannabes, you know.

It's perfectly okay for ppl to not want to be around the drug stuff, too. It doesn't make anyone a 'douche' to put the music over the buzz.

I've worked with a few druggies that could have turned me off to the whole world of users, & ppl with the attitude that 'it's all good' are usually the ones that are the very worst to try to work with. I don't get your vitriol on the subject, but to each his own, I suppose.

It'd be nice if you could live & let live, though, & speak to someone civilly, instead of looking like such a druggie-douche, yourself...

Jeez...1st he gives away his music, then he gets on somebody's case cuz they don't wanna work with druggies. Is this guy even a musician? Or is he just a buzzing bum with a guitar? I can't take this kid seriously...he's got to be either kidding, or a total waste of time for a real muso.

Okay, SteveJ, now that I can hear ya, I'll give ya my critique.

"So Soft, So Silent" - This is pretty good for the indy acoustic celtic-like stuff that I've heard before. I'd prefer harmonies to the singing in octave synch, mostly because the phrasing never matches up perfectly. Neither does the pitch, throughout. Other than that, it's very pleasant to listen to. This seems a bit too long to me, by at least 2 minutes.

"South Colonial Lakes" - I can't hear the lyric at the start, & since it's so quiet, that's a little off-putting to me. I'm not a big fan of the vocals on this. They wander aimlessly, like so many of these songs do in this genre. It's very pretty & all, but I don't feel anything as I listen. Perhaps that's a personal failing. The second vocalist is way odd to my ear, almost like he's talking instead of singing, & it detracts from the experience to me.

Overall, I'd suggest you get a sonic maximizer for your recordings. Yeah, & quit playing with the pan controls, too.

Your material is reminiscent of the "Greensleeves" type of bardish stuff, which is pleasant enough, but it can get boring, too, if you don't have some really strong melodies here & there, & some livelier joyful stuff, as well.

So far, so good. Keep working at it.

I dogged you because I think it is lame to label people. "Druggie" is an insult to many good people who happen to enjoy a little herb here and there. By using this word, you appear narrow minded and hateful. By saying "Ohio, all that corn smoke......Go smoke pot and listen to phish with all the other middle aged men.......", you confirm that you are narrow minded and hateful. Thanks for proving me right, Douche.

Also, the guy defending you and attacking me is 55 y/o and is into phish. :?

I have a couple twisted up, now where is my copy of 'Story of the Ghost'

I've listed places and accomplishments, which is not cause for saying "hey, look, i'm famous and cool" and what type of festivals are you going to? obviously Ohio, all that corn smoke's gone to your head because you are for sure, the definition of an idiot. Go smoke pot and listen to phish with all the other middle aged men still pretending they're frat boys

"Also, the guy defending you and attacking me is 55 y/o and is into phish."

Oh, I feel so busted!

What's either my age or my being a Phish fan got to do with anything?

There are lots of ppl on here that won't work with ppl who smoke or drink. They think it detracts from the music, & that's their right.

I've played with & without, & it's a non-issue with me, most likely because it just ain't all that important to me. When I meet with ppl who demand it, I'm very wary of them, & with good cause, from my experience. Nothing 'hateful' about it, Funk. For some folk, it just makes good sense.

Let's face it - there are a slew of ppl out there who just can't handle it, or can't handle being around it. They deserve our compassion, too, don't they?

you "dogged" me? nice lingo... you tried to insult me because you're an idiot and you smoke weed, so you felt the need to to defend yourself against someone who has an opinion on life you don't understand. I have a lot of people in my life who smoke, drink, etc... and it's something I don't want to have to deal with while I'm trying to sing, or when trying to play shows. It's not cool to have a drunk band member playing off time, it's not cool to have to breathe in smoke and mess up my throat and lungs. Narrow minded is what you are for getting so angry at someone you don't know for not wanting to work with people like you. AND I was in no way insulting anyone else, so stop trying to make an ally against the new guy you can't best.

I'm with funk, you are a stiff, haven't even listened to your stuff and i wont, i'll bet i'ts about as uninteresting and shallow as you sound mate. Should call your band The Martyrs, and go on stage in oxygen tanks to protect your precious little throaty woaty from any little whiffs of smokey wokey. Having a drink before a gig doesn't make you drunk you pathetic little child, i always downed a couple before gigs and was not impaired in any way. Bet your mummy still comes to hold your pu**y little hand doesn't she.. You silly douche!

I'm not done! I ACTUALLY cannot believe there are people like you in the world, fair enough don't drink or smoke if you don't want to, but simply using the word "druggie" speaks volumes! It really does, you have obviously led a very sheltered life, i would never refuse to work with someone just because they like a drink or a smoke. Of course i wouldn't want to work with an alcoholic, or a herion addict for instance but i must say, as much as i'd be against working with someone with a substance abuse PROBLEM, i would be equally opposed to trying to work with someone like you who has such a closed minded approach to life. I'm willing to bet that more than half of your record collection is full of "druggies". DOUCHE!!!!!

Some of us have weaknesses and it's to our best interest to keep those temptations at a distance.
I don't want anyone doing drugs around me either because I'm an addict.
That might make me a douche, but I'd rather be a clean a douche than a stinkingcunt that needs one.
I can have a beer before or during practice no problemo
Because I have control.
Anything else and it would be game over.
I don't need that influence in my life.

hey nice picture hanson, you too are an idiot... sheltered is the furthest thing from being the correct adjective to call my life, and you obviously didnt read anything I posted, you just assumed. Your music sucks, you're a terrible musician, and you're as ignorant as they come. honestly, you should kill yourself, try od'ing like some of your heroes, that'll make you famous, oh wait, no it'll make you typical, boring, and uninteresting. you're not a poet brah, you're a moron.
