I do have a very good sense of humor though I try to keep that bit quiet. It has a habit of getting me into trouble so I quell it a lot unless I am around people I know well enough. Many thanks and likewise.

I'd listen. I don't care what anyone plays. Music is all the same song. I like most of it when done tastefully. Sometimes just one good musician in a band is good enough to hold my interest. Fortunately my interests are in the song not the genre of the song. But i still have my preferences like 'ya all do.

Its not a matter of control but monitoring if rules are broken. The job of an admin is to protect the site and users from vitriol, libel, spam and malicious link exchanges that can result in viruses. The admin can't do anything about what you post given that it is in the boundaries of site rules. Now you got me thinking about requesting admin status.

I can understand the malicious link (virus) aspect. But this forum has policed itself pretty well. No need for any more moderation. What generally happens is, people start getting warnings, then suspended, then banned, then threads start getting locked anytime anyone sneezes wrong. What you're left with is a politically correct (according to the moderator) forum where everyone is forced to be nice. Then it ends up a freaking ghost-town. We're musicians, we don't always play very nice. It's the way we are.

The Bandmix dude knows what's up. Just let it police itself when it comes to arguments. Without controversy or argument, a forum is dead. I've seen forums go from thousands of members to a couple of hundred once too much modding got involved. Bottom line is, people don't like being forced to be nice. But they will choose to be nicer once they feel like they're being out-casted by other members, or they go ballistic and vent like crazy until they leave due to being ignored. Plus a lot of attacks on forums as far as viruses and such go can usually be traced back to a disgruntled member who was at one point banned and wants to retaliate.

Moderation for sites like Guitar forums are due to a company wanting to uphold a sense of integrity in their product. They don't allow people to curse, or argue as much because they feel like it hurts their image. Bandmix doesn't seem to care about that. Let people be who they are and sort themselves out. It's actually a big reason I like this place.

These forums are NOT IN THE LEAST overcrowded. Topics typically stay on the front page... well, hmm... let's just check....

Yep... Topics from the 13th are STILL on the front page right now.

That's almost a FULL WEEK of threads just sitting on the front page. You don't even have to click to the second page if you don't want to.

If there was ANY true inconvenience about this, I would capitulate the point with no problem. But there really IS NO inconvenience, other than that some people, cannot seem to handle even reading THE SUBJECT LNE of conversations they don't personally like.

Just because YOU want to live like an ostrich with your head in the sand, or have nothing to offer on these issues, doesn't mean everyone else has no meaningful opinions either.

Some ppl (like me) will just continue to think, say, or do whatever they want to, no matter what you may think or say or do in response.

To me, "General" means pretty much anything goes.

Personally, I'd prefer to see the US politcal threads in the US forum, but I won't make a stink about it.

Cracks me up when someone posts a US political thread in the General forum & then bitches someone out for responding cuz they aren't American, though. You guys are pretty stupid, in my mind, & you know who you are, & now you know what I think. I don't expect it to make a difference, & I really don't care if it doesn't. And I really don't give a damn if you get all offended, either.

I feel like I'm getting too old, or maybe too mature, to get all riled up over the stupid opinions of other ppl. Stuff it all where the sun don't shine.

I also am finding this place less attractive, lately. I dunno why, really. Nothing has changed, except maybe me...

I have a pretty good handle on how everyone in here thinks, & why. I haven't heard anything really new for a long time. The arguments may get heated, but the content remains the same...YAWN...& I'm feeling like I need either some new blood, or some better content to keep me interested...or maybe it's just Spring Fever setting in, & I'd rather be DOING something than READING the same old sh*t.

I mean, it's a slippery slope - if you make a forum for everything other than music, then you'll end up having to categorize all the different BS topics that ppl want to argue over, like religion, politics, science, social commentary, so & so's horrible attitude...the list goes on.

Screw it. If they hafta put that much work into it all, they'll hafta raise thier rates, & you'll just bitch about that, too!
