Too much moderation f**ks up a forum worse than just policing your own. I like Bandmix the way it is.

"I moderate for the Ultimate-Guitar Forum, Harmony Central Forum, Ibanez Forum and my own jsantos.net forum. "

And that's not enough to keep you happy? You want control of this one too? I also feel BandMix is just fine as it is. At least here you get to know something about the people who participate.

Hmmm... I never thought about becoming an admin here because I don't find myself frequenting the forum enough. I can probably do well and clean this place up, bring in a lot more musicians to contribute real musical threads, maybe even columnists and review critics. Bmix needs to ban the trolls and delete useless threads. I think that way, people may take it more seriously.

How do you know who is a troll? Does the new illegal immigration law in Arizona ban trolls? Do trolls have papers proving they are trolls?

Bob, It is a term for people who come into forums or chat rooms with the purpose of creating conflict by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages.

I think trolls are originally from Western Europe... like Sweden and Norway. According to Wiki and Brittanica Online.

I enjoy the freedom of being able to call someone an ashwhole Generaly instead of musicly. I enjoy the plesent banter between musicians and like. I enjoy not having to listen or read political comment if I don't want to. My finger tips control everything I am exposed to here on bandmix. I believe those that complain of the content of GENERAL CHAT are complaining of subjects that bother them most. You must admit there are many, many other subjects discussed here that are not music, religeon or politics. I don't really hear any complaints about them. I write lyrics and all that is discussed here I am interested in at some level. I should concentrate on learning to spell more beter, but I don't. Everyone here has the option of starting a thread that interests them. Therefore if you don't like what you are reading, it's your fault.

Almost 250 views. Contraversy is popular.

It's not musical yet seems to be what people want to read.

I agree. Control freaks are the trolls. They loved PC, and now they want internet control over every topic. It is ALWAYS the control freak that will ruin any forum.
I guess that if he was in charge the rest of us could find an active forum to join. Is it true that forum control freaks can't actually pass over a thread without reading it? :?

Maybe should join music topic only forum that is suitable to you, Grasshopper, one post a day or week very rewarding to those in proper frame of mind. 8)

Its not a matter of control but monitoring if rules are broken. The job of an admin is to protect the site and users from vitriol, libel, spam and malicious link exchanges that can result in viruses. The admin can't do anything about what you post given that it is in the boundaries of site rules. Now you got me thinking about requesting admin status.

Trolls are ugly and bothersome. It therefore is a matter of interpretation. Are you to us or are we to you?

What we need is a majical flute that santos can play and lead scores of music only followers through fields of sureal French fries and pastries to a promised land where music encompasses every thought and notion. Then all will be right and the troll world will be left far behind to its own demise.
