I've been listening to beck lately... and I like him. Like anything else you can't take everything he says to the bank... but he's been more right then most on many things.

impossible to believe my gov is spending my money to investigate what? A guy selling things on his talk show through sponsor adds? what's next... going after billy mays? (too soon?)

From what I understand, he is being investigated because he regularly tells his listeners to buy gold, while his show is sponsored by Goldline, and is being paid by Goldline to do so. Meanwhile, Goldline charges a 25-35% commission on sales of these "investments". The people who listen to and trust Beck are generally older and can ill-afford to be ripped-off in this manner. But Beck is not the only one; many other conservative commentators are doing the same thing. Be careful what you listen to, believe and invest in.

Radio advertising on a syndicated program costs megabucks. You can be sure that any product advertised as much as Goldline has to be paid megabucks to cover the cost of the advertising. I'm suspicious of any product or service that is advertised so much...it usually is a rip-off in some way.

Beck is a nutter. He's just trying to make money. That's why he is a talk show personality. It's all about the Benjamins.

Doesn't matter if it's advertising or ranting - he's just trying to get your dollar.

Is anyone counting all the different GOLD INVESTING companies advertising on all the major news stations. Fear mongering is not just the private domain of FOX news.

Glenn Beck has to be careful because he has called so many people out.For now they have just resorted to name calling and attacks from all sides. The more they protest and attack instead of answering the questions he raises,the more they raise suspicion that he may be RIGHT .

One thing that is evident is the attacks allways involve NAME CALLING and DIVERSION. The same as a washington post reporter that came out on CNBC, and noting the win of Ran Paul he resorted to calling the " TEA PARTY " a bunch of nuts. GREAT REPORTING ,HUH?

Some of you are in the same frame of mind because you resort to the same tactics.Even if you don't have any facts and you are just trying to voice an opinion, avoid name calling ,it will only make your point stronger.

As for gold, This govt doesn't want you to have any, It is a source of economic safety that many wealthy and non wealthy have hedged their survival on.You can allways buy guns with gold,even if the worlds printed money lost all its value.

As for BECK,the same as our PRESIDENT I pray no power or sicko brings them any harm. That would be the ULTIMATE WONG!

I believe that in a total economic collapse, where the Tax and Spend Liberal administration in power today is taking us, gold will be confiscated by ALL governments. It has been that way in the past so I do not see any reason that it will change. The track record of the thieves in power should leave little doubt. All they have to do is make it illegal for citizens to own Gold. And they will do that, that is the nature of socialism, communism, or any dictatorship or group of governing Hippocrates.

Furthermore, I do not believe for a moment that gold will surpass the value of food when push comes to shove. How much Gold does it take to soothe the the hunger of those without food?

Realistic or fanatical? History will always be the standard as it repeats itself wherever truth is suppressed.

So only invest in Gold that can be eaten.

When events cause monetary rates to decline, gold is often a safe haven used, to freeze the value where it is, or even increase it, since gold is more sought after as a shelter for money in times like these. And generally gold does increase in value. Gold is generally a stable investment, which is why the American dollar fluctuated in value far less, when it was still on the gold standard... i.e. "All printed money was backed by it's equivalent in gold reserves."

It really shouldn't be an issue. Beck's show is opinion and not raw news. The confusion would come if a traditional NEWS SHOW was encouraging gold purchases on-air, yet it appears as regular news... as if it were a reported FACT. And even then it would not be a problem, as long as a disclaimer was made, like "In the interest of full disclosure, we should mention that CNN is sponsored in part by GoldSales USA."

First GOLD is not a GOOD investment. It is a commodity the same as pork bellies or copper. I wouldn't even recomend owning more than just a few hundred dollars worth for extreme economical and political upheaval.

Slacker brought a very good point about food or lack of it. That was the weapon of choice of stallin to murder huge numbers in the Ukrane.
Of course, He had the gold to pay for the guns to carry out his slaughter.

An investment is something that returns a dividend. Your homes pay back tremendous dividends, many of wich are not monetary and a true value can't be determined.[Comfort ,happiness, relative safety,etc]

All investments have risk, so does life in general. GOLD is not an investment.It is a hedge.
I love car ads that say invest in a new CAR today. The minute you drive it out of the dealership you just lost value. Maybe weiner should go after all these car dealers and car companies and every station that runs car advertisements.[Now that's funny]

It's like a place to protect your money... a parking place for it, until markets or economic conditions settle down again. No one can ever be certain how far down investments will go, but gold, is substantial and holds it's value, which is recognized universally, better during shakey economic conditions.

The problem is many people don't realize that Glenn Beck's show is a commentary (opinion) show because it's on a news channel. There should be strong disclaimers at the beginning because a lot of folks (especially older people) don't realize this.

The problem is all news shows are just commentary[opinion]shows slanted and biased in what ever direction the owners of the NEWS SHOW will reap for them the greatest financial reward.
There should be strong disclaimers the facts may be distorted and one sided and stupid people should be advised that they would learn more from "I LOVE LUCY" reruns.
The proof of this comes in the form of the weather forcaster that doesn't have an outside window to see that it is not raining and in fact it is bright sunny day.
The local station ,here, had a weather person that was so bad, She could't get yesterdays weather right.Now thats funny and you can't make this stuff up.

And you expect us to believe that other shows aren't just as opinionated and they only deliver the truth,the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Just like the AG from CN running for senate back tracking on his Viet Nam record. He Was Never There .To funny. Like J kerry bragging about his swift boat experience in Nam. The boats he was stationed on were to large to bring upriver to engage in combat. When the real vets pointed this out he backtracked real fast.
Are these are the people that are handing the NEWS SHOWS all this truth?
