Nah I'm going back on Saturday.
Here's the link for it. I did this last Friday and have two weeks to revive it if I want to?

I deleted mine about 8 months ago. Too many people posting stupid things, like how their kid took a crap, taking pictures of what they made for dinner and posting them, posting everytime they'd get off their fat ass and move around the damn yard, ect., ect.

I don't have anything on there that is personal. I only friend ppl I know or have worked with ... I do have a few from this site.

I use it to keep it touch with other sidemen types (friends) and different bands & artists that I've supported ... I't helps getting gigs.

I would have to say that being on facebook brought the crowd to our last gig. Turned into a highschool reunion. Easter weekend and we had folks turn up from 6-7 states. They wouldnt have been there if they hadnt all gotten together on FaceBook. If I had just used myspace like we had been using I dont think we would have gotten a lot of those folks. Plus now they want to do another gig later with us.

We dont even have a band site, me and my singer just posted info about the gig and it took a life of its own.

I think it is a way to reach an audience.

Isnt that what everyone that is a musican wants is an audience?

Yes but I don't want my employer reading about my rock & roll lifestyle. Many HR departments use FB to try and find dirt about their employees.

Private and professional lives...may the two never meet.

I joined FB simple because Shredd6 and JW had commented on it being good advertisement for the band.
Since being there I have reconnected with friends and musicians I have only wondered about in 30 years.

As far as my "private life".

I am as big a loudmouth ass standing in church in front of the preacher as I am anyplace else.

I really don't freakin care.

I am whom I am, very little self control of my superego.

I like using mine too... Met up with people i'd lost touch with years ago, and all the better for finding them again. Also, a great way to reach out for a fan base... it's free advertising. As for employers reading their workers pages.. Don't friend them! They don't need to know what you've been doing all night, as long as you show up for work in the morning. And, like sanshouheil, i really don't care what most people think.. The ones whose opinion matter to me are a very, very few. I have myspace also, but i just check it once in a while, if i get a note that someone posted something.

I rather like MySpace. I think the two are completely different though most seemed to stak them on each other. MySpace music is a really cool place, I love it.I rarely talk to people much on there, just listen to folks music and get to know people through that.

FB is a different animal though iLike now links to that and MySpace which is handy. I'll be back on FB tomorrow so beware of the poking which resumes tomorrow.

I'm going to take a good look at reverb nation too, there seems to be a community feel about that also and I like the local chart thing they have going for posted music by people. Something you can get your teeth into. Summing up its as Mary said. Tell them what you want to? I just spout rubbish on FB for a larf, I have one too. :D

According to my wife, a FB user, there are many outside influences who request access to your info, in the form of surveys, quizzes & such. Once you click "okay" they have access to your personal info. This is great for target marketing & such, & they can pass around your email addy.

When anyone can access your page, too much info, &/or erroneous info, is bound to leak out to ppl better not given that info.

Nope. I think I'll just keep using email to keep in touch with ppl.

Anyone running any site access to PhpMyAdmin or similar can find out info if they want to? I think the thing with this that these apps are 3rd party and are designed as hookers for FB. I hardly use any of them. Its as safe as BM really, no where is safe online at all, but if yah wanna talk and make friends which is what I want then you have to take the rough with the smooth I suppose?

FB has its uses as BM does I think anyway. Image

Thanks Jimmy that is some useful information.

Not defending FB, but I have reconnected with a lot of old friends on there. I really didnt get on for band promotion, but it has actually brought more folks to the last few gigs weve done than Myspace has.

I guess you just need to be careful what you do and say on there or anywhere as far as HR Depts. I own my business so I dont think about that much.

Something else to remember is that anything you post on line can be traced back, particularly if you use your business computor. If the company owns it and you use it on company time, doesnt that make it company property? Im not trying to get anything started and believe in personal privacy as much as anyone, but you just have to wonder about this stuff. Im sure these issues are getting tested somewhere as we speak.
