You're pathetic. To say JW and I should hand out swastikas just because we feel a person choosing a band member has a right to decide how or whom he chooses is even more racist than the guy rejecting you. You act act as if he should choose you over whomever he wants just because you are part Indian.

You open this whole thing up like a big cry baby who couldn't get his way so you feel you at the least deserve a pity party. No sympathy here dude. Everyone takes their lumps in the music industry for one reason or another. But very few go searching for a pity party on line. Most are *man enough to just drop it and move on. (* Before Robin nails me again woman enough.)

By the way, that wasn't you whining because of all the political posts was it? I forget who that was. This just seems so similar it reminds me of that thread. Maybe you should have started it.

Not you or anyone on the face of this earth could tell me who I can or can choose to be in my band. As I said previously, although you may not have seen it because of your crocodile tears, is that I play with musicians of all nationalities and color. And I enjoy that. So do I get a Swastika free card from you for that?

Musicianship is the only consideration for me. (And the fact that I won't play with whiny bastards that would rather spend time whining and complaining than playing... I have worked with a couple of those also.)

So because I feel that the owner of a business has the right to choose whomever he wishes, that make me a Nazi as you imply? My response to you if we were in the same room would be "Blow it out your ass".

However, since I am a civilized " Nazi" as you imply" I won't say anything like that. Besides you already played your race card to attempt to get JW and myself to pity your position by calling those of us who don't jump on the pity wagon Nazis.

However, you should know that I am one of the few Nazis that feel the Black Hills of South Dakota should be given back to the Indians who were promised that before the gov ripped them off again and broke that as well as all the other treaties. I am an ex serviceman. Therefore I understand when the gov makes promises and then breaks them when it is convenient to do so. Ask any veteran. They'll tell you.

Seems to me like you jumped at the chance to start name calling. No pity here dude. Grow up and take your lumps like a man. That's what the rest of these musicians do. However I will paraphrase what the writer of old said:

It's your pity party you can cry if you want to. :D

Slacker, I said this: OK Slacker and JW, I love you no less than anyone else on this forum, but, you sound as though it would be fine to sell swastika memorbillia.

read before you type

I was bringing up a topic here, not looking for pity or trying to start a revolution.

You think your right on everything and one of the reasons I avoid the political rhetoric you post in topics.

You helped this reach four pages. Thank yourself.

You know what?

That should hold true, but it's not as predictable as one would think. I've read literature from famous African Americans of the past, and they sometimes bemoaned that Northerners (usually more liberal and progressive) were just as racist as Southerners in many cases.

I lived in Mobile Alabama, which is a racist capital of America if there ever was one. And you know me... my friends were all the black dudes in the kitchen of the restaurant we worked in. They said something similar to me. That they almost felt Northerners were WORSE, because they would smile in your face, and be racist behind your back. They told me they preferred the South most of the time, cause you generally knew where the person stood... one way or the other.

You can criticize this all you like, but these are the opinions of blacks friends of mine, and of famous black authors.

Things are not always what they seem on the surface.

I know one thing... there sure FEELS like alot of racism behind some of these comments and opinions.

Is that really an ideal way to live and believe?

Wouldn't it be preferable when we CAN ALL look past the superficial?

I quite agree with that, Craig. Some of the most racist places I've been have been in the north, but that doesn't change my assertion that anti-racism is basically a liberal view.

Whatever, it's certainly a paradox to me. I've met some truly horrid ppl of many races, & some true gems, as well. For me, it comes down to the individual. Even some of the ppl I've met in the "evil" biker gangs (Hell's Angels, Pagans, Fugieros, etc) have been good men, overall, & I've met some really nasty types in high positions in the local church. (Of course, the reverse is also true!)

I find it most useful to take ppl as they present themselves, at 1st. Then, as thier actions reveal themselves more to me, I can make more accurate assessments of character. I've even met some mighty fine racists, truth be told.

I know that will offend a lot of ppl, but hey, it's how I see things. I try to remember that, while rascism is inherently evil, racists aren't necessarilly so. That's hard to remember, sometimes, in our zeal to overcome thier mistake.

Well Phil,

Those were all pretty reasonable statements. And yes, of course, some people who are racist, can be exemplary in other aspects of life. Racism for the most part, is a learned behavior. So, when you grow up with certain values... even misguided ones, it can be difficult to change. But racism "IS" a travesty, and even an "EVIL" in the world. So much is missed when we exclude our lives and experiences from other human beings, merely because of their color.

It breaks my heart.

A loving heart can accept the person within, in spite of his petty failings. We all have them, man. We just pick & choose among them. You see it here, heck, even between we two, Craig. We're both pretty good folk, truth be told, but we've chosen different faults, & are often at odds because of them, rather than being more accepting of each other & overlooking them.

It's just part of the human condition.

It's often tough not to say "my fault's lesser than your fault."

I'm still working on it.

Maybe it's spring fever, but I've been antsy as hell, lately, chomping at the bit & irritable as all get out. It's all I can do not to snap at anything & everyone. The news isn't helping. That's for sure. But even the smallest remarks seem to get me barkin' like a mad dog, lately, & for the life of me I dunno why. I'm seeing it a lot in lots of other ppl, too.

It'll pass, or I'll get a handle on it, I'm sure. For the moment, I'm trying to grasp that handle.

After thinking about this more, I have to relaize that there is a difference between racism and descrimination. I think music genres tend to descriminate at times. In my musical life I dont think I intentionally ever felt racist or hate or whatever it is toward a fellow musician or fellow human being, but maybe the genres I pursued at times descriminated in some way.

Until this thread came up I never really thought about this issue. I mean I was put out of a black gospel band for being white and told that, this after practicing and recording music with this group. They were happy with me and I was happy with them til we hit the public and they caught some flak for me being in the group. We had a mature discussion and it was decided mutually for the betterment of the group and its public presentation that i should leave. Ive not thought about this much thru the years. I still eat lunch sometimes with the leader of this group and he and I are cool. Ive recorded a few things with him since, he has actually come to some gigs my band has done. But on that thought, he has asked me should he come to certain venues, and a coupel of times I told him I didnt think it would be best for him to come to certain bars. I was just thinking about his comfort and safety.

I have nothing against K for starting this thread, I just think that lots of times there are 2 sides and they arent necessarily cut in stone. Granted the language of the messages he got from this other individual, had some hateful tone to them. I know this is a public forum and is open to all subject matter. I dont know why I ever even replied to this, I guess when I saw it I thought of my history in this area.

K on a personal side I dont know anything about swastikas or nazi culture. I dont hate on anyone. I wish all musicians good luck in whatever they are tryng to do. Most of the time when I comment on a subject I try to just relate it from personal experience, I dont cut and past stuff like some do to prove Im right and anyone is wrong. Ive just reached an age where I realize there are two sides to look at thing. Im not saying Im right and you are wrong or the other way around. You tend to have a more extreme approach and from your history I understand why. I guess Im more moderate in my approach.

And K thanks for starting this thread, I think it is somethign that needs ot be opened up and talked about. Good Luck

Philby ,I DON'T give a crap about what political party uses race as an issue.

MEN ARE MEN and WOMEN ARE WOMEN. After that all that counts is that we treat each other with EQUAL JUSTICE.

I don't care if you are pink purple or green.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH ME WITH EQUAL JUSTICE, Then you just flucked everything up.

BE Carefull,,, I did not use the words social justice, THOSE WORDS ARE VERY EASY TO TWIST.

:?:

Glen, I have no idea what you're talking about, & I wonder if even you do.

Are you responding to something I wrote? Did you read it first, or are you just ranting for attention? Do you just need to yell at someone, & I'm a handy target?

I've tried to take it easy on you, cuz you're evidently going through some tough stuff right now, but you aren't helping, much, with these odd remarks.

I don't get what you're point is, or why you're lashing out at me, but whatever point you're trying to make is lost on me, man.

I haven't said a thing about any political party, have I?

As far as I can recall, I haven't twisted any of your words, either. They are too hard to understand as it is, so twisting them couldn't possibly help.

I also couldn't care less what your idea of justice is, esp when you just keep babbling at me aimlessly. Take a few seconds. Take a deep breath. Take your time, & tell me again what you're trying to say, & be succinct. Make some sort of point when you post.

I'll be better able to respond intelligently, once I know what you're on about.
