Yes, but none of them, were destroying us from the inside out.

I get angry too Glen, but these are our countrymen. A civil war almost destroyed us once.... and to this day, more American lives were lost in that war, than any other we have fought in, against outsiders.

Can we afford another one?

I think not.

Ultimately, we will have to find compromise and common ground somewhere, and find a way to work together toward mutual goals, or we may very well be, seeing the beginning of the end, of the American Empire, and like the Roman one before us.... crumbling from the inside out.

But once weakened from within, Rome also fell from without.

I hope we can avoid that fate, in our own time.

#3 - I dearly love how Craig can spout off how Faux News is less biased in "reports" in one sentence, & follow it with an admission that it's right-biased in the next. For me, I find it really freaky that Fox enjoys so many of our freedoms to the point of being so disgustingly "liberal" with so much of its programming, yet the "news" dept of the network is clearly reactionary in its approach. I suppose it's one way to have your cake & eat it, too! They can get virtually everyone to watch to see what they'll do next, & as long as they're in the forefront of controversy, they can remain in the top of the 4 major non-cable networks. It only proves to me that Americans will buy anything, as long as it's either disgusting or outrageous, but they care little for actual substance...

#4 - If ppl truly feared civil war, they'd stop trying to rile everyone up all the time over BS. If we're headed for civil war, it's due to the never-ending crap our media feeds us in lieu of real "news." Our news programs have become soap boxes for editorial comment from both sides of any given subject, instead of delivering unbiased facts. When facts do somehow manage to filter in, they're twisted to mean the direst of circumstances in favor of sensationalism.

#5 - This is yet just another non-issue, in that the polls mean nothing, & we can do nothing about thier results or what "they" say those results mean. So why have I bothered with this thread? Because it's getting ppl riled over nothing, once again, but I still have hope that by saying it's worthless info, some ppl will avoid it & its like in the future.
