I never got the feeling that Jimmy had more friends than you on this forum. I actually think everyone on here is pretty straight forward about their critiquing. I don't see any problems with a little friendly competition on here, as long as someone didn't get their feelings hurt if they didn't come out on top.
If it's being done for fun, and a cool experience, then it's alright. But once it's being done as an argument, or as a means to put reputations on the line, that's where I think I'd rather not see something like that take place.
Although I did the competitions, I always hung around and partied with the other guitar players and we'd swap some tech talk here and there, shoot the breeze with the girlys, and it was all a good night out. It was actually cool to see it go from a bunch of competitive guitar players scowling at each other, to just a bunch of musicians having fun as it went further into it and dishing out the good natured vibes about it all.
