I'll be over there for two weeks. Venice for a couple of days. Have a great hotel booked.

If you were going to Torino, I could have put you in touch with my friend Maurizio, who is a chef there. We used to work together in Washington, DC. He was the best man at my first marriage. We recently got back in touch, after a number of years. He told me he still has the Gretch 25th Anniversary guitar I gave him, more than 20 years ago now.

The gig I was supposed to play at is on Saturday. My rescheduled flight doesn't leave until Sunday, so I'm going to miss out on that. But that's okay. I'm just happy to be going.

I am going to take a boatload of pictures. The people who know I'm going on this trip have all asked for one thing: pictures. It's a trip of a lifetime, so I have to take lots of pictures.

Have some beer with my people when you get to Der Fatherland.

And TRUE LOVE... that survives all challenges throughout the years, is even MORE MAGICAL than the initial "feeling" of love (chemistry) because it lasts, it sacrifices more, it proves more, it bonds more, it is more rare, and more PERMANENT!

She was not prepared for the kind of personal assaults she received, when the media got scared from her nomination, and feared McCain might actually have a chance now!

They sabotaged her, worse than they had Bush, over the previous two years!

You cannot possibly imagine the stress she was under, during that whole episode. Thrust onto an INTERNATIONAL stage, in the blink of an eye, throngs of adoring people for the first weeks, then the media turns on her, and sets her up, not to mention the massive insults, the supposedly "professional" journalists, allowed themselves to engage in, as they went on the offensive, to protect their candidate... Obama!

You wouldn't have held up, 1/3rd as well as she did!

Neither would MOST people on this forum!

Put yourself in her situation.

I can make a laundry list of the MASSIVE ups and downs, throughout that whole time period...

1) Bold move! A female candidate! Who saw this coming? Exciting!

2) She came from nowhere, but turns out she is the Most Popular Governor in America!

3) The people love her!

4) She handled Joe Biden in the debate, competently! Look out Obama!

5) She spent lavishly on dresses! So much for her down home appeal!

6) Secret is out... Her daughter is pregnant, and NOT married! So much for family values!

7) Is she really the mother of the down syndrone baby? Or was Bristol?

8.) Mockery on network shows... Husband accussed of having sex with own daughters, in comedy sketch!

9) Mockery of her down syndrome son!

10) Palin at odds with McCain handlers appointed to her! Calling her "Rogue!"

11) Katie Couric interview!

12) Sarah Palin still attracting thousands of fans at rallies!

13) Network anchors calling her pejoratives, and insulting her OPENLY!

14) Obama and Biden gaffes, buried on page 6 news every day!

15) If McCain loses, it will be Palin's fault!

16) How could they have not vetted her properly, and known about the pregnancy of her daughter?


And on and on...


I've seen competent performers, stumble over something, and not recover right away! This had her entire life being mocked, rather than praised... with insane bullsh*t being made up.... WHY?

Because it HAD TO HAPPEN, to help insure Oabam was elected!

That's it!

Trash her very respectable and honorable life, merely because you want the otheer candidate!

She deserves PRAISE for her 14 years in public office, culminating in being the MOST POPULAR GOVERNOR in AMERICA! And then, in her being nominated for Vice President!

It is an UNDERDOG story of EPIC PROPORTIONS!

She didn't go to Harvard!

She is a house-mom, who cared enough to get involved in politicis, and actually "DO" somerthing about it! How may here, will spend the rest of their lives BITCHING about politics, and NEVER get involved to that degree... EVER!!!???
