Yep loved the Cars, Candy-O was my favorite. I saw them with The Fixx in the early 80's, awesome. I saw them later in the 80's, not as great.

Prepare for dissenting opinion.

Man, I can recall the 80's with with frightening clarity.
I though that my beloved ROCK was gone FOREVER!!
First disco ( I skipped my senior prom because it was disco in 79 ... besides I had better plans he he he heeee ) then this crap !!
Of course, I see it with a different perspective today.

The cars were some ugly dudes, but they rocked and not just a few songs on each album, CANDY-O was packed full of musical goodness.

The Fixx were always on my mind. They had the fuct tunes like SAVED BY ZERO and REACH THE BEACH.. Some magical folks to be sure..

My very first band covered these guys and the smiths. We never did play out which was in part down to other halves not wanting people out every night which was a pity.
Defo one of the great bands of the era along with many we can all name bit here and across the pond.

oh Jesus, Devo?

U working in the coal mine?

The Smiths only had 1 good tune. "How soon is now"?

Are there any good ones from the Smiths I missed?

The Smiths were one of the best bands of 80's Capt. I'll wager you have none of their albums; I have them all.

"This Charming Man"
"Girlfriend in a Coma"
"Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others"
"William It Was Really Nothing"

Johhny Marr was a freaking genius.

lol riiiight! I do not own any Smiths/Morrisey

But I did like HOW SOON IS NOW.

Panic = negative.

charming man = better but not like HOW SOON.

girlfriend in a coma = too light hearted..

Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others = isn't that FATTY YOU'RE THE ONE FOR ME>? but I liked that one.. That's progress. Seems very similar.

William it was really nothing..= again too happy and not very psychedelic..

I owned Meat is Murder.

The Smiths were one of the most unique and important alternative groups to come out of the 80's. Like them or not, they were influential in music.

Loved the Cars then, and now. Can do without the Fixx or the Smiths. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio...So, Devo being from Akron, were a regular around this area and I kind of grew up with them. But, have never been a huge fan...nuff said.
