As always

That is the tried and true pattern. So big friggin deal. I have no problems with that. I write songs that way most of the time (not all of the time) because it is the wheel that rolls. If that were not so, you would hear songs written other ways on the radio all the time. So it comes down to simple math in the end. Do you want to make it, or don't you?

You do what you have to do to to make it. Then, once you have made it, then you drop something else into the mix to see if it flies or not.

As far as the time proven trend in songwriting: Buck it, bitch about it, whine about it, hate it... whatever. It comes down to what every business man knows. If it sells, leave it alone.

Most people don't want their ice cream on the outside of the cone.

Listen to Mars Volta

One listen and you will go back to formulas

Just kidding

Pop music and thats radio is formula cause listeners are trained there whole life to repsond to it. The average person is not a musician and could really care less what you think musically they just want to be entertained and moved in some way.

If you want to get out there musically follow Santos lead and get into some free form music which will only attract musicians as listeners. I shouldnt totally say that caus eeven my gf who is not musically inclined likes to listen to jazz at times, but most of the time i notice thru her and others that they dont care how brilliant the musicianship is, and the more off the wall the less inclined they are to listen.
