Here's an article that some of us might benefit from.
Others of us might already pretty much handle ourselves as the article mentions.
Others of us will simply laugh at it, and do whatever they damn well please. And we'll treat it with the usual negativity, derision, and wise-ass remarks which abound here, eh?
I feel like I'm spitting into the wind here, sometimes . . .
Ah well.
Here's the address:

That's a good article. It's advice that really should be taken to heart regardless of how obvious it may seem. Thanks for sharing that

It's oh so much simpler than that.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

No, it's quite true. Good things come in
unexpected packages [yea I made it up; bite me].
I knew this guy back in high school, but we weren't really friends. I was nice [for once] when we ended up talking a bit outside the main office. Turns out he knows a band who were looking for a singer. And they in turn, led me to the one that I'm in right now
Moral: being nice when you can, pays off.
So, yea.. good article, Alan.

I'm usually pretty professional, but there are times when things just hit me wrong & I react in ways I prolly shouldn't. When I'm wrong, I own up to it, though.
As far as handling things in public or with potential venues to play & such, I consider myself to be quite pro in my attitude & overall demeanor. Dealing with ppl outside of those lines, well, yeah, I can screw up like anyone can, I guess, but I don't lose much sleep over it.
I've fouled up what looked like some pretty good opportunities cuz I was in a mood, but they nearly always turned out to be not so great, as opportunities go, & I felt rather redeemed by the ways things turned out.
REAL opportunities are pretty rare in this biz, & it's only natural for those of us who've become a bit jaded by the big promises & outlandish testimonials we hear, to laugh, or poke fun at those who seem a bit off to us. Let's face it, RM, most of the "great opportunities" advertised here & elsewhere is pure 100% crap. I think it's our job as experienced ppl to point it out when we see it, to help our fledgling bros & sisters out, to keep them safe in a sea of sharks.

In reality, at venues, networking, etc.. I pretty much follow that document like the bible...
But on the internet.. I'm much more venomous against folks that I think are posers, trolls, or just unrealistic about things.. so I'm not sure if I'm just holding it all in and releasing online, or if it's just the quantity of flakes to unleash on is so large that it's too hard not to?

Well, Kramerguy, ya gotta vent somewhere or you'll explode!
Besides, I have yet to see you lash out where it was unwarranted.

I also post on harmony central.. and well... I put the 'sharp' in 'sharp criticism' haha. There's a few really knowledgeable folks over there, but also 10x more flakes and shatheads, and a few trolls, which is something we don't really see here. It's almost like being at a shooting gallery with unlimited ammo.
