Promo Specialist?

Hello,

I'm trying to get my CD out everywhere I can for sale and for play on Internet radio.

I've only put my stuff out on a few sites, because I don't have time to look everywhere. Unfortunately, I also don't have time to place ads and/or find out when/if I've been paid.

What I'd like to do is hire someone I can trust to go online and find good sites, do some blogging, etc. Essentially, I need an online promo specialist. Does such an animal exist, and if so, where would I find one?

Thanks!

Remulac

they seem to post in the general forums regularly.

Watch out for most of them, they are mostly vague, sleazy, whatever. But let me ask you- Are you trying to sell a CD without a fanbase? Do you play out? Sure, you need a publicist, but you also need to be public, gigging, generating that solid fanbase. Myspace, Youtube are the obvious sites you should have yourself being sold on, but you can't do it on the internet alone (well, maybe you can.. but the chances are more likely to "make it" doing gigs and developing a following, rather than just posting stuff online and seeing what sticks.

Best bet is to do all of the above. Gig, promote online (I just posted on craigslist about my band's show tomorrow night, for instance), but you have to chase the dream, not try to attract it to you.

Hope that helps.

Why is there a title bar in a reply?

Notwithstanding the oddity of having a subject in a reply to a previously-established subject, thanks for getting back to me.

I'm not really trying to "make it", for a number of reasons. I just want to sell CDs that I'm no longer physically capable of promoting, and which are going the way of the dodo anyway.

Watching for sleazeballs is a point well-taken, as always.

Nice alliteration, that.

Thanks for making me excersize my memory, Remulac...now I'm not so worried about Alzheimers!!!!

Oh jeez - is my slip showing again?

Geograffy is not one of my best subjects, to the poynt that I find the wurd hard to sppel. I'm much betterer at Enkrich sttuf, altho there's tymes that I think I might need a speech patholologist.
