Are performance slots at festivals good prizes?

We've got two competitions running where bands get to win a chance to play at the Big Chill and Underage festivals. www.alterhit.com

We thought everyone would love these but the take up hasn't been quite as huge as we were expecting. To win you need to upload your music and sell it. The winner is the person that sells the most music. Currently the leader of the Underage comp has sold £1.40 worth of music. So basically they will win a slot at a really good event, play in front of 1000s in the new bands tent for £1.40!!

Does everyone think that there are too many competitions out there? Are people a bit worn down by the amount of music websites offering new bands things?

We just dont trust people up front. Seems everyone thinks musicians (performers in general) are easy marks for the old scam-a-roony.
Big asperations yes. But not fools. Most of the Guys and Dolls on this site will tell you if you want their music. PAY FOR IT UP FRONT.

You simply have to stop giving your hard work away. There's so many bands dying to get heard. Unfortuneately too many play for free or next to nothing. You have to get paid for your time and most of all you HAVE TO GET PAID BECAUSE YOU HAVE AN EARNED SKILL THAT OTHERS DON'T HAVE. Could you imagine a plumber or electrician or any skilled laborer giving his or her hard work away? Playing music is hard work. Getting a good band together doesn't come easy. PLEASE STOP GIVING IT AWAY. Later...
