I hate to admit it but its been a long time since I bought any music.
The last I remember was a KISS DVD.
Ive gotten to listening to Talk radio when in my jeep, or just ride in peace.
The best new music I have heard in a long time is right here.

I haven't read the Lester Bangs article to which Howlin3 refers, but for several years now the best music I've heard, and the best talent I've heard, has come to me through local channels - volunteer-powered community radio stations, artists managing their own careers, and so forth. Perhaps the difference is that these people are motivated by an irrepressible desire to share something they love, while those who find success with the help of the music industry machine tend to be more of a manufactured commodity. Some people drink orange soda; others eat oranges.

Originality is a thing of the past! they just want to grind out what sounds like what is already selling!

just keep writing and do what Kurt Cobain did....do something so strong and real that you give em no choice but to take you!
(Whitney Houston had the #1 album when Nevermind was released)

New is New, Old is Old......
I believe that is the new mentality for everything, not just music!
