Hi all, Just out of curiosity I as wondering how exactly ASCAP goes about monitoring? When they are conducting a census(vs a representative sample) it would seem next to impossible to accurately do so? Anyone know if they outsource this work? And if so any details on how it is actually carried out?I am not yet a member but looking at my options as a performer. Thanks much appreciated!

Do you mean monitoring song plays? If so, it's done by a sampling/averaging of radio station logs, which is why only the top 10% of artists see any royalties to speak of.
