I'm thinking of starting a group of singers and dancers - I'm going for a specific style similar to the South Korean girl band, Girls' Generation (links to GG greatness below) The 9 girls are incredibly talented vocally and have complex dance routines that are nothing short of mesmerizing. The dedication that the girls put into their performances is immense and it shows.

My goal would be to get a group together and choreograph routines similar to GG's style of performing. I favor the K-pop style over existing American girl groups not only because the Korean girls have loads of real talent, but also because they utilize modest sex appeal. American pop stars sing blatantly about sex while Korean pop stars have cleaner lyrics that only suggest sexy and I find that refreshing.

I wanted to get some feedback and opinions of the likelihood of getting something like this together in Austin. My biggest obstacles are a.) finding talented girls dedicated to the effort and b.) finding gigs that would welcome a girl group. Let me know your thoughts - I'm new to the site as I joined to connect with local musicians.

I think Austin TX must be the easiest place in the world to put a band together. You might never get paid for performing, but musicians are coming out of the woodwork who understand what it means to be original.

It may take a little time & patience but you are in the best place possible for that vision.

Secondly...oh yea...if you can pull that off you will have more work that Gaga. Heck, I'll hire you to come play at my house!!
