I've been using EZ Drummer recently, pretty easy to use and if you can learn MIDI, you can create your own loops. If you have the budget, go for Superior Drummer, a step up from EZ Drummer.
I've heard good things about Addictive Drums, too.

I'm happy with Reason / Record or both. The kong drum designer
is worth trying. After that it is a matter of physically modelling the
drumes to your liking. I'm sure there are many VST plug-ins you could use with an inexpensive VST host and a compatible sequencer. Reason adapted should have Kong if you don't need all the buttons and whistles.

Plouge Bidule is a great application too. try it as a demo and download some drum vst's. It is a modular app and very useful.

Audio Tool is a free app but is very powerful if working with loops. Give that a try first.
