Santa got me a tiny 100W P.A.
Can they get any smaller?
But - combined w/ my Kustom amp, its good for house parties and restaurants, small rooms.
For the style of music we play, that'll suffice for about 2/3 the venues.
Jazz, folk - nothing loud or distorted.
It only has to boost one or 2 voices . . .
I used it at a party w/ 50 people the other day, and used it at about 2/3 volume . . .
Got another party tomorrow w/ about 40 people - I'll let you know how/if it stood up ok.
.
Wish it was 1500W . . .

The bass player uses a separate bass amp, of course.

Ah what the hell.
Probably be next year before anyone reads it

Gifts of gear are hard to beat.

Yeah, not many people seem very interested in music here, anyway, any more, eh?
:)
I just got back from a little party, in Guilford, shooting pool at my brother's house.
.
Playing at that other party tomorrow - umm, today . . . maybe 40 people or so.
I have to be there at 1pm: 11 hours from now - to set up the gear.
.
But I spent the last 35 minutes breaking down the gear and packing it in the car.
I'll put my guitar in the car tomorrow morning, but the rest of it's packed already, and parked right by the front door (where my dog sleeps).
.
So - tomorrow, all I have to do to get ready for the gig in East Hampton is to drink some coffee, put my guitar in the car, then sit down and drink more coffee.
:)
Then it's about a 45 min drive to, from here . . .

It was a good show, Sans; dress-up suit and tie affair, catered food.
.
We can perform as a solo, duo, trio, quartet, or quintet. Which ones of us are performing will determine which songs we perform.
The invitation yesterday was for 3 musicians.
The idea was to perform on a balcony overlooking the living room; barely room for 3 people.
Kinda cramped, but the acoustics were teriffic.

The sound went out straight from the balcony, and bounced off a 45 degree ceiling right onto the guests.
We got a ton of compliments - several folks thought the three of us sounded like Peter Paul and Mary, doing folk and jazz and rock.
.
We were all miked - Chris and Melissa singing and playing harmonica through the 100 W PA.
I Played & sang through my 65w Kustom Amp. What a CLEAN sound . . .
On several of the songs, there are parts where I really belt out the vocals, and in those parts I pulled away from the mike completly - my natural volume didn't need any amplification . . .
.
Every place we play has different acoustics . . . .

Congratulations.
Man, that's a sweet set up.
A few years ago Eric mentioned he would like to do an acoustic " camp fire " group.
Similar in flexible dynamics to meet a greater variety of venue situations.
Perhaps, one day we'll do that as well.

Keep rockin !
